Ordered a new pair of Bean boots in September. Paid full price. About 2.5 weeks later Bean puts out a 20% off promo code, which would have saved me $20+. I found out about promo code on Reddit and several posters said they contacted Bean and got the 20% off refunded. I figure it's worth a shot. I contact them and request the 20% off. Rep explains that they only do that within 7 days of purchase. Bummer, but I figure it was worth a shot.

Well here it is, almost November, I get a phone call from an LL Bean customer service rep who explains that the previous rep was correct, and that is their policy, but that their refunding me the 20% off promo anyway and I should see the refund posted to my credit card within 24 hrs.

I always knew Bean was an awesome company, but no one has customer service like that anymore.

I'll be a Bean customer for life

They make excellent boots, clothing and gear, to go along with that great customer service.

watched a movie the other night and it was having some playback issues, no big deal though just had to pause and let it catch up a couple times

got an email from amazon the next day and they refunded my $ for the movie since it had poor playback, pretty badass

I've been an Amazon customer since 2001.... Their customer service is not what it used to be. In fact, within the last year i'd say their customer service is mediocre.

Happens to practically every show/movie I watch on Amazon Instant several times throughout show. They've never contacted me or issued a refund... I'm Prime though, guess they figure they already have my $100

Costco is my favorite.

They take anything back. I think except for TVs. And they give you full value back, no questions asked. Oh, and no time limit. I brought a jacket back to them that was a large and was too big for me after I has slimmed up. It was two years old. full money back, cash.

Bean boots are pretty much a one time buy because no matter how worn out or torn up they get LL Bean will replace them with a new pair if you're not satisfied with them.

Their policy is so lenient that they have to ask thrift stores to mark through the tags of their items because so many people would buy LL Bean things there and get a full new replacement of the item.

Should have just sent them your old pair, they would have sent you a new pair for free

Wife still uses her LL Bean school bag from middle school to carry some of kids' toys around when we go on day trips. She sent a pic to their FB account telling them what a great product they make. In the background was my 5 yr old son. They replied asking her for her address so that they could send him a similar school bag in hopes that we start a family tradition of using LL Bean school bags. Pretty awesome.

LL Bean has an extremely generous return policy. You can basically replace anything you have with a newer version of the same product.

I heard a podcast about it a few weeks back. They had people bringing in 10-15 year old stuff and replacing it with brand new stuff.

Do they still have that insane return policy or have trash folk abused it to the point where they had to get rid of it?

Impressive. Thought they would have gone the REI route by now.

bullshite amazon customer service has gone downhill dramatically. Coinciding with increase of prime and slower shipping. They are looking for costs savings now.
