not really
ok. My son goes to private school so I’ll put that out there upfront. So obviously I could give a shite what the zoo keepers in public schools get paid.

Do the math and show me why they don’t get 6 months off. Every holiday and every weekend.

Most people get weekends and holidays off, too - so I’m not sure of your point

We homeschool our kids, so I really don’t give a rat’s arse about any teachers but to allude they don’t work for what they earn is either naive or ignorant

I’m not sure either

The only issue with your post was the length of time they work. It’s 9 months, not 6.

When I started at EBR library -the starting pay for a librarian (masters degree required) was $36,000 - to be a librarian in EBR public schools (no masters degree required - just a certificate - which I have, too) starting pay was $47,000

I went to the public library

I worked for the state in the late 90s/early 00s. I'm sure it's still a shite show

I have a lot of respect for teachers despite the OT narrative and I want them to be paid decently

But they deserve the raises more than anyone.

People wonder why they live in a pile of shite all the time. Because they’re lazy cowards who hide behind “not my problem.”

I never said they didn’t work for what they earn. I broke down the hours they worked and put a monetary value on it a $43 an hour. If that’s not a good living I’m not sure what the frick is.

That’s pretty good for 6 months of work a year and 7.5 hour days.

Knew a baw that taught and would go and work turnarounds during the summer. Made like 90k

That’s y’all’s fricking state. A state of “not my problem”

You could legit pay EBR teachers 125k per year and still have D schools. Our magnet program is decent but you can't change the kids attending these other schools without some sort of cultural revolution

3 months for the summer off. Maybe 2 1/2 months.
2 weeks for Christmas off
1 week for Mardi Gras off
1 week for thanksgiving off

That’s just off the top of my head and I’m sure there’s more. So at maximum they work 8 months.

No worries. Think about the shittiest Atlanta school districts. That's what most of EBR is like. It is what it is. God bless them but great teachers aren't changing that.

Before I had a kid I was hardcore my kids going to public school and my kid will ride the bus like I did. My argument was always I did it and I turned out ok.

My wife and I make good money, we filled out the paperwork for pre school and they told us our kid would not be accepted. This was because we made too much money and preschool is not required.

After that I said well frick em they just lost two parents who would’ve been involved in the school.

Point of my short story is if public schools keep losing good parents because of this they will soon stop circling the toilet and be flushed.

You obviously know more than I do about what teachers work so do the math for myself and the other in this thread.
