Cons: Cold as hell, Windy as frick, food sucks,

We go to up there 4 times a year. Winter is very cold. And the food is just flat out not good. Other than that it is nice. Mayo Clinic is right down the road.

Where are you guys eating? The Bachelor Farmer is a fantastic restaurant, with a really cool speakeasy under it. The Harriet Brassiere was also really good.

Minneapolis is an awesome city, I'd definitely consider living there.

Yeah, rehab. Based on my experience everyone is on drugs or use to be on drugs. Hope this helps.

Hell on earth the other 8-9 months out of the year.

Jesus, some of you are over the top. No it isn't. It's wonderful weather from May through September. That's five months. April and October average is 58. That's not hell on earth. March and November the average temp is 41. Cold yes but certainly not frigid. December through February is very cold.

So, 8-9 months of hell it is not.

I worked there for almost three years off and on. The women put on 'winter weight', so they call it. Makes 'em nice and warm for the winter and helps keep ya warm, too, eh.

Revolve around work? Or were you in the area and decided to take a side trip or something?

I could see maybe if I'd had went up to the Wisc game last year or something, having made a little trek west and hitting up Minn or hitting up the Saints game this year.

But if I was up there I'd imagine I'd have much rather vacationed in Chi

If you like the outdoors, I'm not sure this place can be beat.

Ever make it to the northwest? You know, where there's mountains, no humidity, biking, trails with real elevation gain, skiing, hunting and fishing?

My wife had a training, and I tagged along so we extended the trip a few days.

We have friends up there, so we may make our way back there some day.

Never lived in Minnsota before. But Minnesota is famous for its odd slang terms.

Actually we stay in Rochester for a few days 4 times a year. But, I find yankee food to be uninspiring at best.

Live in Minneapolis, not St Paul. I just moved into a duplex near Lake Calhoun. Fun area, lots to do. Live near the chain of lakes in the middle of the city if young/single, western burbs if married with kids.

i was born and raised in minneapolis. lived in Louisiana for 8 years, graduated from LSU, then moved back. Love Louisiana, but the quality of life up here is miles better. Yes the winters can be tough, but that makes the summers that much better. the Swedish/Scandinavian culture is pretty lame, especially compared to Louisiana, but the restaurant scene here is top notch. The State Fair in August/September is unreal. The whole state looks forward to it every year. Public schools are some of the best in the country. Tons of really good jobs with awesome benefits. The fishing and hunting is fantastic. The western suburbs are the best place to be if you're gonna be raising a family.

In other words, if you can deal with some cold and snow for a while every year (you get used to it), then you'd really enjoy living here.
