They'll use this and then end their sentence with "right?"

They both have been around for a while, but yes definitely in the same vein, I like what the poster said about not having to commit to anything, by using that language you leave yourself a way out

Like the gay lisp, it's something academics adopt to become trendy as well as to signal to others that they indentify as part of the socioprofessional group of academics.

I spend a lot of time working in "assessment" (which is not audit.) I'm well are that I should not say some dumb shite like "There were no instances in which someone had access to SAP after their termination." I will say, "There appear to be no instances in which someone had access to SAP after their termination."

But I'm smart enough to understand populations, valid samples, and other useless stuff like that. I don't get partners sued, which usually works in my favor.

The tendency of "people say," or "there is talk on the Internet," etc., is total shite that shouldn't even be responded to, though.

That's a horrible take, but what they do is replace the word "industry" with "space".

Example:

"I want to go into that space when I graduate"

"That space is so innovative and taking off. I see that space being where the world is heading"

Insufferable

And or "kind of."

You gotta love when posters here just sort of make shite up.

You’re not alone in noticing this. I listen to a lot of history podcasts and it is pervasive, particularly among scholars and historians. Same thing with adding “right?” after making a subjective statement. Once you notice it, you can’t un-notice it. Dan Carlin has gotten really bad about it.

That is extremely condescending and annoying.
