I'm sorry if this is a frequent topic.

I lost my grandfather to cancer in April. He was my only grandfather because my Dad's father died when he was a teenager.

My grandfather was the second biggest male figure in my life. I loved him so much. This holiday season has and will be rough.

The hardest part is seeing my mom so torn up. I love her so much and would do anything to make her sadness go away.

Summary: No matter what you believe about life, love the people around you. This game is short and the other players won't be around forever.

Happy Holidays to all of you. This round is on me.

Lost the only grandfather I knew (mom's side) when I was still very young. What little I remember about him are very fond memories. A very good man.

I hope you find peace this holiday season

I'm at my grandparents currently in texas. Dad's dad died when he was little, grandma got remarried so I've only ever known grandpa as my real grandpa. He's 92 so I'm not looking forward to the day him or grandma go downhill. I'll probably be a mess, just think of the good times and how he's looking down upon everyone now.

It's tough. I'm 36 and this is my first holiday season without my grandparents. They both passed away earlier this year at 98.

This was my first year without both of my grandparents from my dad's side. My dad said the thanksgiving dinner blessing today and brought them up and it brought tears to my eyes.

I'm 44 and my grandfather was born in 1891. He died when I was 10 but I still have fond memories of him. He had great stories too. He had a Ford Model T that got crushed by a horse in City Park and he got shot during a bank robbery in the early 1930's. I'm here because the bullet missed his aorta by about an inch.

This is how I see it: maybe there is an after life. If there is: you will see him again. If there isn't: you won't know the difference. Just hang in there and remember the good times and how much love you shared. Let him live on in stories you tell about him.

Knew both of mine and even one of my great grandfathers.

My parents (Includes step parents) are in their 80's or late 70's.

I have been taking the family to see them each year because I don't live near any of them, and any call or visit could be the last. I savor them all.

Didn't know my Mothers Dad. He passed away in an accident when my mom was 11 years old. My Fathers Dad lived to be in his 70's and was a real character. Worked in a lumber mill, missing three fingers on his left hand and worked until he was about 70.

Lost both my grandpas and I miss the hell out of em.

My dad's father lived in DeRidder and I'm an LSU fan because of him, even though I went to Baylor. He took me to LSU football camp my jr and sr year's of high school and he freaking loved it more than I did.

I think about it all the time that the last football game he saw me play was losing the state championship at the old Cowboys Stadium in 2007. Haunts me to be honest.

My father and grandmother passed away this summer. It feels kind of strange to suddenly have no elders in the family. I've got a grandson who lives in La, got to meet him for the first time at my Dads funeral.

My grandfathers are both gone. One 10 years ago and one last year who was the patriarch of our huge Italian family. No more Sundays at his house with tons of cousins aunts uncles etc. Holidays are not the same at all. I was truly blessed to have these two great men in my life.

Good stuff right there man. Hopefully the memories you have of him will bring more happiness than tears. Cheers on having a great role model in your life!!
