You can say that all you want but I am still waiting for your rebuttal. The truth is you don't have one even though my argument made perfect sense and should be easy to refute if you had any facts that could prove it wrong.

I want legal weed in this state and it would still not be enough to plug in the budget hole and would only be a niche economy at best here. Nola would sure as shite benefit from it though.

It would put a huge dent. And it would be a huge market. There'd be folks coming in droves from Texas and the southeast. Even more tourism to Nola.

LA would take in a lot if they could be the first and only place in the south with legal weed for a few years.

Most likely it will be one of the last states to legalize and we'll miss out on that first mover advantage.

He said:

quote:

know several people who have been caught with possession and distibution and not one of them has spent more than a night in jail. This includes an individual traveling with several pounds over state lines.

Next guy said:

quote:

Were they white?

To which you said:

quote:

Ill answer that. No they werent.

So....if they weren't white what were they? Then I replied:

quote:

So you are saying blacks never have to do even a night in prison for weed? I bet they are happy to hear that!

And then you said you never said that!

Exactly. We could use this as a band aid and be progressive at the same time. Instead, lets wait until the advantage is gone because the politicians needed to figure out how to line their pockets first.

You're worried that taking a product OFF the black market would increase crime. Prohibition of pot CAUSES crime, just like it did with alcohol. Would pot dealers start committing armed robberies and carjacking just Bc they can't sell pot? Well, if you really think that's true then outlaw more things so criminals will have more options. What would pot dealers do? Maybe they'd sell other drugs. Maybe they'd get a job. Who the hell knows. But I don't know why they'd automatically turn to violent crime. And it's not only gangs, cartels, and thugs selling pot. It's a lot of otherwise law abiding people. A lot of students, a lot of people who do work.

This is definitely a factor in calculating what effect legalization will have on the economy.

You aren't getting a license to sell in this state if you're just a guy with a business plan and the capital to start a business. I'm sure there will be a ton of required connections to be made and palms to be greased before being awarded a license. At least for the first few years/decade.

Yeah this is a pointless discussion. The retards in BR would rather shut down LSU than legalize a nontoxic plant. Can't even get a legit medical
MJ law passed.

I am not worried about that at all, I said it would increase VIOLENT crime in certain areas. As far as the rest of your argument I don't know what ALL of them would do but I know most wouldn't suddenly become productive members of society when we have an $8 minimum wage and real unemployment around 20%. Basically the only option for most would be to commit other crimes to earn a living or collect welfare.

Yep. When it is eventually legalized I guarantee it will be several years until a person who isn't extremely well connected politically will be able to open a store.

They'd just sell something else. most of those type already do. I don't know, I guess some might turn to violent crime but statistically I don't think it'd be much to worry about.

I think your overestimating the the effect legal weed will have on pot dealers. I'm just making up I number but I'd bet over 80% of people moving weed do it for supplemental income or to pay for their own weed. It's not easy to make a living selling OZ's and under.

That's what I'm saying. It's a wide range of people who sell weed. The ones with a propensity to commit violence, those are likely already committing violence and already selling other drugs. But that'd be a negligible number.

Ill assume they were white. He is a college kid who constantly reminds everyone on here how much money his family has and how pretty much the whole world is beneath him.
