Leasing a Lamborghini

I couldn't help but overhear a conversation today involving a woman's child and her promise to lease a Lamborghini for him at $2K per month for up to one year.
The stipulation? He must earn a full scholarship to college.
The catch? He isn't older than 10 or 11, at most.
Good parenting to "dangle the carrot?" Or setting up child for disappointment, as more than likely said child won't be able (or possibly not want to) afford a vehicle that is the definition of luxury?

So he'll work hard to get the full scholarship. Then he'll get kicked out of school partying all the time with the Lambo. Makes sense.

As a 25-year-old, I think about this every time I look at my retirement balance. I mean do I really expect this world to last another 40 years?
If I grow some balls, one day I'll just cash it out and live like a king for a year and hopefully go out due to a cocaine overdose.
