East Baton Rouge Parish, the second largest school district in Louisiana, slipped some, dragged down by declines in English and math, holding steady only in science. It continues to trail the state as a whole in every area.

At this point, I don't see how anyone could possibly be against the formation of St. George.

Zachary was the highest rated district.

BEcause they made the smart move and separated themselves from this shithole. Same with Central. Hopefully St. George will follow suit. If that occurs, I'll send my son to St. George schools instead of private, and I'm sure others will, too.

And Baker is one of the lowest. I wonder what the difference is that causes that....???

Looking at the lowest performing schools, North Banks Middle School in Baton Rouge was the poorest performing of the neighborhood, non-alternative public schools. Only 3 percent of its students achieved mastery, down from 5 percent a year earlier. Next lowest neighborhood public school in the capital area was Baker Middle School in Baker, where only 5 percent of students showed mastery.

Angles Academy and Jehovah-Jirah Christian Academy were the lowest performing of the capital area’s private schools. The two Baton Rouge schools have students who receive publicly funded vouchers, and by law those students are required to take state standardized tests. Only 3 percent of their voucher students showed mastery in English, math and science.

Yikes.

For the most part, schools are neither good nor bad. It's the people who attend the schools.

You can have a school with extremely qualified teachers and a blank check for funding, but if it's filled with culcha it will still be a shithole and a failing school.

Demographics bro. The schools can't outrun the ghetto. It's only going to get worse as North Baton Rouge continues to unravel . When social pathologies are this widespread and leadership this poor, things can only go in one direction.

Maybe the EBRPSS can rename a school " Alton Sterling Elementary School ". That will turn things around. That's the Progressive virtue- signaling we need to fix the black family and all the associated catastrophes that come with that.

It's largely not the schools. The quality of the students and their families is what affects the scores. This is a socioeconomic issue.

"White flight" and maybe 6 total schools, counting elementary. How did Drake ever leave that candyland to go to EBRPSS?

When/if SG occurs, you will see some staggering numbers, too.

Let's be clear. The most vocal and active of those who opposed St. George, the magnet moms, didn't fought for better schools, they fought for the status quo. They got their golden ticket in the magnet school lottery, and didn't give a damn about the rest of the kids

their status quo was already a better school, so I'm not understanding WTH this means.

The smarter kids and their parents are moving to Ascension Parish and Livingston Parish.

What you have left in EBR should not be surprising. The lack of parental involvement and discipline at the home are yielding the results you are now seeing today.

And don't kid yourself. It won't get any better. This isn't a "Lean on Me" type of movie we have here.

Is there a YouTube video demonstrating how Alton used to make "homemade" CDs? If so, I could see this vision of class going from a concept to realization.

And evolving too. Move over Zig Ziglar. Alton's here. He's going to teach you how to sell an outdated technology after midnight nonetheless, on the streets of Baton Rouge while avoiding cease and desist letters from the RIAA.

Shenandoah and Woodlawn Elem., both in the proposed St. George area already score as high as schools in Zachary, Central, Livingston.

Drake has expanded magnet seats so every applicant that qualified, got in this year.

It is flawed logic to say that because schools in N BR score low, the SE should break away when the kids that live in SE BR and attend a public school attend a school that is as good as or better (magnet) than the schools in the districts St. George wants to copy.
