Is there anyway besides twitter to reach him? I'm starting to feel like no matter who I talk to, no one cares but me.

And it's just morbid. I mean, this place isn't swanky by any means, but I lived in much sketchier areas than this during my years at LSU and never had these problems. Picked this place over others because it has a walking trail around the lakes my wife (no pics) and I like to walk our dog around. She can't even come out there anymore because it's all you can see until the decided to push it a little further down the lake at some point today.

Nah man. That's all sorts of fricked up and unsanitary. Make sure you take plenty of pictures.

Going to start contacting these people that have been suggested. Thanks for the help. Have a couple of pictures, but not going to post on this thread.

I cannot stress enough for people to avoid this complex if they are looking. I could write a novel on all the fricked up shite that is allowed over here. Just go across the street and spend $20 more a month.

That is frick d up. Blow up your apt complex with phone calls by reaching out to outside agencies. Animal rights groups, EPA, etc...

This is my dream funeral. My wife said she won't learn to shoot a bow and arrow, so hopefully I don't die before forcing my future child to learn.

This has got to be grounds to break your lease. For the love of God, eat bologna sandwiches at work and move out of this place to somewhere decent.

This is not an indicator of good things to come. Move before they steal all your shite and then you have to move.

The longer I'm here, the more I want to. Literally last night, I had one of those "kids" trying to sell me magazine subscriptions to go to college at 9 PM. I'm the only door he knocked on. Hindsight, I probably should have called the cops.

So I live in this same apartment complex. Let me tell you the saga of this dog from my perspective and then some more about the complex.

Last Sunday (Feb. 5), my wife (no pics) and I noticed something in the lake. I thought it was a big turtle shell because of the shape and brown color. It was kind of away from the shore tho, so we couldn't say for sure. My wife thought it was a tire.

We didn't think much of it because it was mostly submerged. I went to check on it a couple more times over the next few days. On Tuesday morning (Feb. 7), it had washed up near the shore and then you could clearly tell that it was a dog.

We immediately called the complex management and left a voicemail. I went over and told them about it myself later that day. We then went back and told them again the next day when still nothing had been done about it.

The dog carcass was STILL in the water as of Friday (Feb. 10) and was super bloated and gross looking. I spoke to another resident that day who reported it as well.

On Sunday morning (Feb. 12), I went out to see that the dog had washed up on shore and the carcass was literally just laying there on the land like 5 feet from the water. It looked like someone had just dragged the dog out of the water and left it there.

I went back out to check on it in the afternoon and someone had wrapped it up in a white plastic bag. I figured animal control had come and wrapped it up and was coming back to grab it that day. But Sunday rolled on and that carcass just lay there all day baking in the sun. It smelled too disgusting to approach at that point.

So Monday comes, the carcass was still there in the morning, but disappeared sometime around noon. I later saw one of the maintennance workers pouring bleach on the ground where the carcass had been laying for the previous couple of days. So I figured that the maintenance workers had finally disposed of the body and were cleaning up the area. I guess I was wrong...

I literally didn't think anything of it until I saw OP's post. Now I'm really disgusted. People fish in that lake all the time. Some people let their dogs swim in it. I think it's open to the public on the side of the lake opposite the apartment complex. I can't believe they legit just pushed the dog back into the water.

Honestly though, I'm not really surprised. Last summer, they fired (or he quit?) the head maintenance guy. His replacement is a nice guy or whatever, but this place has gone to hell since then.

The grassy areas are minefields of dog poo. At one point, a trash can was tipped over for weeks and the trash (including dog poo bags) was just sitting on the ground. They've stopped refilling the dog poo bag dispensers. A bunch of people lost their cars in the August flood (the east and part of the south portions of the complex flooded) and some of the flooded cars are still just sitting there.

The dumpsters overflow literally every week and the ducks rummage through the trash and spread it all over the place. There is a dock on the lake with some benches that the ducks like to chill on so the entire dock and the benches are just covered in duck poo. Even the sidewalks are covered in duck poo. Some nutria live in the lake and they've started eating all the trees by the lake so there's just dead trees laying by the side of the lake.

There's a large tree that fell down during the storms last week near the entrance to the complex and it's still just laying there. It was partially laying in the road for a couple of days and I ended up just moving it myself.

In the OP, it says they take section 8 vouchers here now. I honestly had no idea that was the case. I feel like that's something they should've told us. We definitely won't be renewing our lease now.

I asked them point blank and they said they didn't. However, another couple I know said they found out personally they did and they left. An elder man near the woods who passed away also said that he was told by the former maintenance man the same thing.

Apartment complex has gone to shite. My ac will freeze up several times a month. They won't replace it, just add freon and come back when it needs more. In my hallway (all three floors) there is a MAJOR spider infestation. They sweep the walls, but they all congregate at the very top corner of the stair wells. They are left, make babies, and come back every time. There has been domestic violence and they don't kick people out. I mean a woman punching a man in the face several times and nothing was done. The list can keep going on.

A couple months ago, they had fliers out for some "community meeting" or something to talk about some of these issues (like the dumpsters for example). I wasn't able to attend, but obviously nothing came of it. If this story blows up, I'm interested to see the fallout. Because whoever owns this place isn't going to be very happy reading about this online or seeing it on the news (if it gets that far).

I'm still trying to figure out the "Animal cruelty" part of the thread title???? If the dog is dead it ain't suffering cruelty. A dead animal is not Animal Control jurisdiction either as it's dead, pretty much under control at that point.

Simple solution: Go to Wally World; purchase shovel; purchase some twine; purchase a large treble hook.

Dig hole about 3-6 feet deep (6 feet is depth at which smell is not detectable to scavenging animals, depending on soil 3-4 feet for human detection).

Tie hook onto twine, snag carcass and drag into hole, cover with dirt.

Learn to be self sufficient when others fail to meet standards. Then as you have surmised, vote with your feet and your continuing dollars on acceptable/unacceptable conditions to live under.

Protip: Wally World pharmacy dept., find some spearmint/peppermint oil to rub under your nose, also pick up a filter mask. Use these after digging hole but before snagging carcass.
