This is great news, but it never should have been dragged out this long by Broome and local judges. StG has a much more difficult job due to long delay, BR picking spots to annex, troublemakers being pushed into area or right next to it, governing since by parish/metro council & its President, and the feeling by many residents of StG that it was not going to happen due to politics causing some to make other plans.
It’s reminds a little of what I have been told about the BakerISD being delayed too long by Judge Parker and then additional issues with EBR district on taking control of schools causing many to give up and move which helped to sink BakerISD to what it has become. The BakerISD that finally elected a school board in 1999 and officially took complete control in 2003 was not made up of same students or involved residents when it was initially voted into existence I think in 1991 (years may be off a little).

Can’t wait to visit the breweries in downtown St. George.

So what, you get your own town. That doesn't change much. Still paying taxes that go to the poor through state income taxes.
The whole point was to keep the taxes going to EBR.
The interesting development will be the virtue signaling businesses that opted into EBR anfter incorporation seemed DOA. Several may quietly move across the street to reduce their tax bills in the coming years.

All those that annexed into BR after the election certification deadline. Most prominent of these will be Lipsey's, and Untied Towers

I'm wondering, for the OT law team, does St. George has standing to sue to restore the petition boundaries? BR gobbled up quite a few areas since the original vote.

Scotlandville was the original test case, but their incorporation effort failed

Looks like both Rally Cap and Agile are in St. George. Does that mean that St. George now has the 2nd most breweries per capita in Louisiana?

Where is this? Ready to start getting used to new names, new places. Kind of like moving, but staying in the same place. Like what happened in BR, in reverse.

I'm pretty sure those will be reversed, and once the new city government is up and running, those places will have to petition to leave St. George and get that approved to go back to being unincorporated, and then will have to re-petition BTR to annex them into their city.

Yep. And St. George doesn’t have to grant it, especially for businesses that Baton Rouge had to use make believe access so that it was directly adjacent.
I’m betting none of those businesses go through with the process.

All of this could have been avoided had they simply let them have their own school district

Congratulations to the fine folks of St. George City...
