My understanding is that the money for St. George policing essentially stays the same because it won’t have its own police department and will rely on EBRSO. Which it was already paying for.

Kind of. The city of St. George will be required to have its own police “chief.” Some municipalities have gotten legislative exemptions for that though.

The plans are for the police chief to be basically a liaison for EBRSO.

Harveston Walpold should immediately work on modified plans to try to put the "municipal complex" in Harveston

I’d put City Hall right by Lipsey’s place.

She also refused to call St. George a city all while preaching “togetherness.” She kept calling the entire area Baton Rouge and called St. George “the proposed city of St.. George.”

She also said she was going to talk to the Parish Attorney to get her options.

She sued to stop St George as a private citizen. The Parish Attorney is paid with our tax dollars. We don’t need to pay for her private legal advice.

So BRPD will be LESS funded and EBRSO will stay stagnant no?

So on the basis of staff and policing it will only make crime get worse

I think the city of St. George may have to contract EBRSO for police services, once incorporated. Someone correct me if I’m wrong.

If so, it might mean a funding increase for EBRSO. But it will still be a decrease for BRPD, and it won’t change the fact that EBRSO doesn’t do any police work within the BR city limits (which is the source of the vast majority of the crime anyway).

From my readings, I believe a city must have a Chief of Police; thus a police department. The size? One man or more.
From what I heard, I believe the planners plan to do the minimum but direct funding from existing taxes to EBRSO to provide more officers and patrols.

Plenty of land on Pecue. And there would be its own interstate exit.

They always had a Baton Rouge address. That may change now, but since when before 2013 were people in the area saying “they live in St.George”?

Do you really believe the crap you post, or are you just being compliant to your masters?

Yes, we were looking at that Friday at work.
It’s a central location and easy to get to from multiple directions once Pecue is completed.

I could put "My Nutsack" as the city on a letter but if it has 90210 as the zip it's going to Beverly Hills

Short Wheel Base is going to be short term anyway. I think Ted James has her beat already. Will be interesting to see his take on St. George. If he’s smart he’ll support it. The position is still Parish President. The election is for parish President for Zachary, Baker, Central, BR and St. George.

They just want a school that’s not a democratic cesspool.

The fact that it had to go this far is a testament to the corruption of government.

It’s sad that Baton Rouge let it get to this because I’m not sure that letting Baton Rouge proper descend into the abyss is the best thing for anyone and it seems likely with the loss of that revenue. With that said it was already moving that way anyways and the hand of the St. George was forced by Baton Rouge leadership. I just foresee this becoming a Jackson situation sooner rather than later. It’s already at the brink now.

BR had that chance and blew it.

EBRPSS refused to fix their shite.

The legislative Black Caucus blocked a new ISD being funded.

SWB claimed she had no control over EBRPSS (true, directly) and that there was nothing she could do to fix things with them (false, mayor-president could have leaned on them should they refuse to fix their fricking mess).

And SWB went out of her way to demonize the people trying to make St George, thinking it would cow them. It instead galvanized support.

Yeah I’m not blaming the people of St. George at all.

It’s like having a family member on drugs. You do everything you can for them but eventually if they don’t do anything with your help you can’t let them take you down with them. With that said even at that point you still are affected by them because you can never fully get away from that proximity

Your ignorance knows no bounds and your melt is glorious to watch. Seeing which posters are whining about this only strengthens my thought that it was the right thing for those of us living here.

This is one of those “if I had billions, this is what I’d do” things. I don’t even know where St George is but I’d be propping them up till BR paid up.
