Utilities are private, not municipal.

Hence why a switchover is so simple

Add:

Parks - parish service (already taxed)
Sewer/Drainage - parish service (already taxed)
Libraries - same

Naive clowns are likely still better than the corrupt clowns over BR now.

Lololololololol

Publics were never an option for ours. Knew I'd be shelling out. Figure between the two of them I spent over $215k from K through 12.

Let’s have a ‘GoFundMe’ for some ‘Welcome to St. George’ signs. Past time to get this ball rolling.

Walpold should immediately work on modified plans to try to put the "municipal complex" in Harveston

They still have no viable plan for the city?

What a shock. I guess that’s what happens when you intend to run a potential city of 86,000 as if it would be a city of 16,000.

Part of why SWB was crying was that she knows she will immediately be tossed as a plaintiff due to standing since she was tossed at a lower level court for that reason.

Yeah she said multiple times in her press conference that it was ruled by the appellate level that she has no standing. She would have had to already appeal that to the La Supreme Court. Her 30 days are up on that so it’s done.

She also kept saying that the only one that can request a rehearing is the plaintiff and his lawyers. She said it like 5 times. She knows he is going to appeal for a hearing, but she is just hanging on and hoping a miracle can save her.

She also refused to call St. George a city all while preaching “togetherness.” She kept calling the entire area Baton Rouge and called St. George “the proposed city of St.. George.”

If you believe Skullhawk. St George was well thought out. Makes you wonder who is the naïve one.

Rehearing will be denied 4-3 and I suspect within 30 days of the filing.

The people spoke…self determination finally won out in the end.

Now it will be up to the residents of St. George to build a better community.

The bar is low.

So is it still not a 100% certainty? When is it truly done and final?

wouldn’t call it a suburb, it may be co cities because of population. One example although they are further apart, Mobile/Pensacola. Shreveport could actually be 3 cities in one Shreveport/Bossier/Texarkana if you look at it from a media market standpoint. Heck maybe we ought to start calling Monroe, Monroe/West Monroe. Then you have on the larger scale Dallas/Fort Wort, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Tampa/St. Petersburg, etc.

Not really-

Texarkana and Pensacola are almost as far away form Shreveport and Mobile as New Orleans is to Baton Rouge.

MSAs are partly determined by the amount of the population that commutes to the other city on a daily basis, I believe it is 25%. This is part of the reason why there was a push for rail service from BR to Nola, to combine metros and receive more federal funding.

There has to be a rehearing appeal filed by someone who properly qualifies.

If no one files within about 30 days, it is settled. If someone files, standing has to be determined before the look into the merits of the argument IIRC.

Rail travel still won’t raise that to 25% unless they are bussing homeless people between areas repeatedly.

When they came knocking for signatures, they couldn’t answer simple questions. Understandable. This person has been sold the dream and is volunteering their time.

To their credit, a person called me to address any concerns I may have. This individual was as clueless as the signature taker. Didn’t leave me with a good feeling about the endeavor.
