The four National Guard crew members missing after their Black Hawk helicopter crashed over water near Pensacola, Florida, Tuesday night are all married men with children, the Louisiana adjutant general said Wednesday.

Not BE. Please I ask that some of you respect the process and keep the prayers going. This is a very hard 24 hours for us.

Family member just retired as a Blackhawk pilot there. I've known a lot of those guys for many years. Praying I don't see a certain few names but that's selfish. All are very good guys.

I know a lot folks over there. Hoping one of them isn't someone I know.

The Town Talk is reporting that one of the pilots is CENLA native David Strother. So, I must assume his family is at least aware he is one of the missing and this isn't in poor taste.
The Town Talk
I spent 18 1/2 years in the Louisiana Army National Guard - in between my stints in the US Army Reserve. During that time, I had the pleasure to serve with David on several occasions, most notably at the 199th Leadership Regiment, where I was a leadership and military science instructor and David was a TAC officer
But, I've known Dave far longer than that. He was my junior high basketball and football coach, Doug Strother's son. I am 3 or 4 years older than Dave, so I can remember when I towered over him - having first met him when he was 9 or 10. As I stopped growing at 5'8", and he made 6'3" (or better) - when I saw him after school, he towered over me. He played football for Northwestern, WR if I recall correctly.
He has multiple overseas tours and is one of the best Blackhawk pilots in the Louisiana National Guard. This is still a (edited) search and rescue mission until we see 11 bodies. Godspeed and if anybody can make it back, Dave can. And for those of you with family and friends among the missing - Dave successfully "crashed" helicopters on several occasions due to mechanical issues, weather, etc. - I assure you he gave them every available chance to make it back.

Thoughts and prayers for the soldiers and my fellow Marine brothers
I'm hoping for some sort of miracle here.

There was just an interview on Fox 8 with Rickie Brocato, the owner of the Crescent Bar in Hammond. There's a bunch of memorabilia in the bar from the ANG folks. One of the things they showed were some beer steins with the TF Voodoo logo on them.

I echo this.

FWIW - I have reports this person is not among the missing crew - from a source who would likely know - if that eases anyone's mind.
Chew - you may be on the inside - I hope I'm not stepping on the information message with this - I literally didn't find out it was David until my daughter called me in tears after seeing it on thetowntalk.com.

I hope the families can find some peace. This is just awful.

Yes I am on the inside, that is why I implore everyone to allow the process to work itself out. This is my unit, my friends, their families deserve the respect and prayers. Thanks.
