It's going to be a tool only available to law enforcement which is pretty much where we are at without the cameras

It's a step in the right direction, but as long as citizens are allowed to film police, we're still gonna have police getting into trouble. We need to arrest those that hinder justice by filming cops.

the frick are they downvoting? don't they want a law that not only requires police cameras, but one with real power giving transparency and public access to the records?

Exactly. Loyalty is to the state, not its citizens. The citizens have no voice here.

They're downvoting anyone who has the gall to make fun of their proud nubian queen Marcelle

Maybe it was such a circus with those a-hole groups present they couldn't have meaningful discussion....

The state is the voice of the citizen, to deny that voice is treason. Back the blue!

If only the cops had body cams, Alton Stetling would be alive.

What did you say Ethel? They had body cams? Come on now, no way.

Aren't body cams going to solve everything?

read this yesterday and was confused. Wouldn't she WANT the bodycams? A

Her and her ilk only care about gettin theirs. She's getting lobby money (or just straight up bribes). That's all she really gives a damn about. Everything else is just posturing and pandering.

I really feel like y'all don't understand that police really don't mind the cameras. It has helped more than hurt many officers, you just don't hear about that part.

Franz Borghardt, a criminal defense attorney, is the co-chair of the group along with Marcelle. If her proposed changes remain in the resolution, he'd be cut from the body. Borghardt said he was blindsided by the change – having received no prior word it was happening – and puzzled that Marcelle would pursue it.

"I'm at a loss, because a representative who holds herself to be a civil rights leader has just removed all the civil rights advocates from this task force," he said.

she probably doesn't like the results of the video already taken by body cameras.

This is just so strange.

It's obvious she doesn't like, trust the police. Having body cams would prove misconduct if it happened. If it shows there was no misconduct, no harm, no foul, right?

All of the people she is trying to remove, once again, support body cameras.

If she would instead have tried to kick off all the LEO reps, at least that would make sense given her political base.

i think MOST people do understand that. if cops have body cameras it is filming the stupid shite the other person is doing. reason why all traffic cops have video on their dashboard that starts filming when their lights come on.

These should ALWAYS be asked first, no matter what legislation we're discussing, or unilateral executive actions.

It's total bullshite right now but at least the cops will have to go through the pain in the arse of removing citizens' eyes after beating the shite out of and/or shooting them in 15 years once ocular implants are widespread.

So we have that to look forward to, at least.
