Why would you want to be a member of a club that would have YOU as a member?!

Nope, that is the fastest way NOT to get in. But belonging to the Pickwick Club is a plus. However, if you have some $$$ and you are civic minded Rex has place for you.

Used to be that some of Momus were Comus. The Twelfth Night Revelers will most probably be members of Comus.

Samford isn’t a liberal arts school.

Just like glassman, know one that is so snobby.

New Orleans and Louisiana as a whole has gone to dog shite so what are you really being snobby about? No one cares.

Know many members. Can confirm they are not like the rest of us.

Perfect teeth, nice smell, a class act all the way.

What about Proteus? It's the 3rd oldest and I assume just as snooty?

I know one guy who might be, not sure but he has some association with the Boston Club. I knew him at LSU, he was from out of state but had relatives in New Orleans. He was a full fledged alcoholic by his third year and I'm almost certain he never graduated. I figured he would end up dead or homeless, but he shows up on social media several years later as the head of a big SE LA real estate outfit. Still drinking like a fish, with unmistakeable signs of liver disease

Almost an out of town krewe now or will be soon. Most of the progeny live out of state from the small sample size I am aware of.

Their parade sucks. Everyone riding seems like they have a stick up their asses, and they don't throw shite.

The parade has always sucked. Back when Comus rode as "Comus" many riders rode Rex in the morning and Comus at night. That's a long fricking day.

ETA: Can you imagine riding Proteus, Rex and Comus consectuve days? Many people did used to.

There is nothing special about it, just bloodlines and many generations of people who take Carnival, and their place in it, VERY seriously.

Unless your kids went to Newman or Country Day and then on to UVA or Sewanee then you probably will never be involved…. Or is that Rex?

You can get into Rex without being a blue blood. It's just very hard.

Old, old money types. Like most old money in NOLA, the names are not names you would easily recognize. Most of them do not have operating businesses. Old, old investment money.

Lucky sperm club.

Who are the members?

Very few people that you would recognize / heard of

Is it just a bunch of hoity toity high society types?

You could say that.

Look, you can buy you way into Rex. You can earn your way into Rex. You can not buy your way into Comus. Period.

You know how much of a big fuss is made about Rex. Now know that at the Meeting of the Court... Rex bows down to Comus.

The people you would know... the wealthy, the business execs, the poltical elite... they are all in Rex.
