Exactly

Most responsible parents at least have a burial policy on their kids or can pay for it out of pocket.

Well, I am very thankful not to be walking in their shoes. Honestly, none of us know their particular financial situation.

I'm just gonna figure it was a pretty large, unexpected expense and they need a hand.

No, but I wouldn't have the balls to ask strangers for money like that.

How many of these killings look otherwise?

I feel for the family, but also do not feel obligated to help pay for the burial.

Live within your means.

I don't know who Kermit Ruffin is but this is getting more and more popular. The kid killed on the ATV this weekend had family do the same thing

I don't really have an issue with people doing funds for a child's funeral like that though. Yeah, maybe they should have gotten life insurance. But they didn't...and are now going through the worst thing a parent can possibly go through. I'll hold placing judgment on family/friends trying to lessen at least the financial burden that parent is facing.

Then don't donate

Most of the time....those fund me sites are to make it easier for people that actually know the parents/child to donate. When you know someone facing a child's death, you feel like you want to be able to do something to help the parents.

It's more then likely people they know.

I find it pretty powerful. A friend of mine died around the holidays unexpectedly, his sister started a page trying to raise $7k, and it ended up near $20k. Huge outpouring.

And i dont think Kermit Ruffins has a ton of money. That would be like assuming the Groovy 7 are all living in mansions.

No, but if he has the means, it would be a nice gesture.

frick no! That shite is already handled by prior planning.

My FIL died suddenly about ten years ago. Me and my BIL nutted up and payed for the burial.

While going through FIL's things looking for a suit to bury him in, we found $30,000. That was money MIL didn't know she had but we wouldn't take a dime of it to help pay the the burial expenses. That is what families do.

I know the question was not directed toward me.
