I used to accumulate change but since I went cash free it would take me 30 years to fill a Kentwood jug

if i saved every coin that touched my hands, in 30 years, i still don't think i would make much of a dent in a 5 gallon jug.

It's the American banking system. You are already getting cheated.

But in reality, those banks are so regulated aren't going to cheat you out of 50 bucks

I'm the opposite. I use cash for everything unless I'm traveling.

The only times I travel is when I'm being reimbursed for it.

I've spent so much time in motels and eating in restaurants that I never travel for pleasure any longer. Much more relaxing for me to just stay at home when I have time off. Completely burned out on being on the road.

Depends on the branch in many cases. I've worked in bank branches that wouldn't accept it unless it was rolled, but I've worked in others that had an industrial counter/sorter that was like 8 feet long and dropped them into bags that went to the Fed. Usually there is a branch designed to handle that much loose change if they deal with carwashes, vending machine owners, newspaper companies, etc.

My credit union in the Atlanta area has a coin machine just inside the front door.

Some branches do, some don't.

Even if you have to join, it should be only $5.

P.S. I took in almost $500 in loose change.

You can always bring your change to a casino. They'll give you chips are a receipt, go back to the atm machines and cash out.

I would need to use a dolly. shite ain't light

I used to play a lot of pool and would get 10$ in quarters to start the night. Came home with a lot of quarters. Plus I always pay cash at bars and end up with change that way too.

It's probably close to that or more. All silver. No pennies as I usually just throw them on the ground

I rolled mine and Capital One made me break them open and put them in the machine. I wasn't charged a percentage though.

This was also years ago, so I have no idea what they do now.

It sounds like the OP should call his bank before he wastes time and money.
