I loved growing up in north Kenner, but it's just too far away from NOLA proper for me to consider living there. Luckily, I was able to move to Old Metairie (inb4glassman), so I still have the safe good neighborhood.

And lolz at the guys thinking north shore is best.

Best thing about Kenner.......

The last extant Taco Tico in Louisiana is there. Rest in peace taco Tico of Metairie, home of the first Mexican restaurant in all of New Orleans that introduce more people to foreign food than any other restaurant New Orleans

Taco Tico

Their slogan in the 70s was: "Taco Tico, for a mouthful of fun"

That was a bit racy. The beef they used was a bit gamey. It all worked out.

we need better restaurants and shopping. Our mall sucks and our strip malls are empty, yet we build more.

Had the Texas stacked Enchilada(tostada) thingy last night.

Not bad.

I went my first 20+ years in Kenner, never eating there.

Planes don't bother me, because I'm in the Northwest and not in the flyway.

I can hear the train late at night, and motorcycles on the Interstate even though it's well over a mile away.

Honestly though, I would move to Metaire if I didn't like the house, lot and block I am on so much.

It's not that, it's the high taxes and nothing getting fixed.

I live on a dead end with seven houses, we had a little crack in the street, called the city and it was fixed. Anything breaks and it's fixed in days, when I had to call 911 I got a cop in less than 2 minutes.

If we had a nice district with local bars and restaurants we would be golden.

Today’s boundaries of what we call Old Metairie are generally said to be Airline Highway, Causeway Boulevard, Veterans Boulevard and the 17th Street Canal. Its commercial district, Metairie Road, filled with small shops, coffee houses and a specialty grocery, bisects the area, yet most of Old Metairie is primarily residential.

STFU already. We all get you think only the richest part counts. That's just not the case.

ETA: And I'm aware that north of I10 is included in that description and not part of Old Metairie. But Pontiff is in it whether you and your silver spoon care to acknowledge it or not. And since I can hear the little league action from my patio right now, where I am is in it.
