Yep. Always turns into some kind of pecker measuring contest of who's storm was worse.

Sheer number of people affected

Exactly, but my point is the effect that was experienced by the individuals was the same...both lost everything..

That doesn't make them equal unfortunately. You should probably just let this go.

Yeah, you're right.

CNN should be noted for their extra-special suckitude though.

Gustav sucked. Tie between it and Katrina in Thibodaux, maybe slight edge to Gustav

I never really comprehended what the word "refugee" meant until Katrina.

my cousins hated being referred to as "refugee's" it was like using the "N" word in their eyes.

I lived in Watson when Gustav hit and had my family, that had just moved back to Arabi after Katrina, with me. My mom and I were going to sit in the gas line at the Shell station on Range and there was a big piece of plywood in the Oak Point parking lot that had "Katrina Who?" spray-painted on it.

[quote]My parents house in Arabi had 12 feet of water from Katrina. They pumped all the water out and started searching for bodies opening up all the houses. The house was flooded again by Rita with 4 feet of water. Letting alot of the stuff inside the house float down the street. We never took a single handout.

So frick you with your handout and no media coverage for Acadiana bull shite!![quote]

Maybe you missed my comment on how the local authorities called for anyone with a boat to assist in search and rescue everywhere south of Hwy 14... Driving a boat down the street breaking down doors looking for people that were missing... I can relate..

Well you're certainly the only area that had boats going down streets. Can you just leave this thread already. I'll even make the Rita thread for you if you need me to.

I wish I had the pics of my mom's house on this computer. It looked like a fricking bomb went off. A really shitty, muddy, wet bomb.

dude...

natural disasters happen all over this country

I'm sure the people in the OK tornadoes, or the midwest flooding from a few years ago can all relate

but to come in this thread like you did was just quite pathetic

Maybe we should agree to disagree...

Fact is we may have both lost everything we both owned, but we stood up and rebuilt ourselves and have continued on...

How about just letting him get his experience off his chest? I see the word Katrina in the thread title but cmon man,you really going to run him off for telling a story?
