It sure helps to have a situation like this to learn from previously

This is exactly what I was thinking. Katrina taught us how to do better.

If this is true, the media is doing a terrible job covering this story. Please post a link to this.

What are the odds these were formerly New Orleans residents?

Anyone who does this should be shot on sight and left for the catfish.

Do you hate all black people, or just the ones in New Orleans?

1. We're only three days in to this thing, I'm sure there will be plenty of harrowing stories once things settle down.

2. A lot of the harrowing stories during Katrina turned out to be just that, stories. I remember the rumors about MS-13 sending teams in to conduct organized looting. As far as I can determine, none of that shite happened. Yeah, some bad things went down. But not nearly as much went on as you imply. Mostly it was just desparate people trying to survive a desparate situation. I remember a video of a helicopter rescue with a dozen or so clearly, po' folks, with one of their number organizing them in an orderly line to get on the helicopter. No stampedes, no shooting, they were going through the worst experience of their lives and they were trying to do right. I also remember an African American teenager being reunited with his beloved dog he thought he had lost. No thuggery there, just tears.

There are evil people of all races, creeds, and persuasions. There are also some great people of the same. And most of us are somewhere in the middle just trying to get by.

I'm not reading your thread

What's the purpose and end game of being so us vs them? Bc that is exactly where these threads devolve.

But the people on this board like to cal out the same behavior when BLM does it.

Apples and oranges. Houston didn't have wind damage debris blocking all the roads that weren't flooded. Most of the people with means to help (boats, big trucks, supplies) evacuated ahead of Katrina, leaving behind moslty poor people with no means of really helping themselves until the government finally showed up. In Houston, almost everyone stayed including people who had means to get out and help others.

ETA: and Katrina knocked out power and communications infrastructure to the entire city. Most of Houston still has power and cell towers intact. Lot easier to coordinate rescues and relief with communications and power grid mostly intact

I was in NO doing rescue during Katrina. Most of the stories you heard about were made up. Yes, there was violence but much of it was blown wwwaaaayyyyyyyyy out of proportion.

ETA: We were actually in the 9th ward and never had issues.

Every time there's a natural disaster, I wonder if people will finally stop trying to make it into a competition of who suffered worse. Still waiting, it looks like.
