But this "dialogue" never has any description to it. It's always vague. "We just need open dialogue". Okay, about what?
Again, see my post above. You insinuate an open dialogue would do no good, I just don't think that's correct.

One side feels the other is out to get them at every turn. The other feels that simply isn't true.
Ok, a dialogue about THAT.

It does start with open two way communication with both sides listening. I am sorry that many here don't think That what occurred in KS is a good thing.

It is a good thing.

But what needs to be talked about? The solution isn't a discussion. It's taking action to see people for who they are, your fellow citizen and fellow human being.

There's no actual conversation about the topic to be had. Simply meet one another, respect one another and love one another for who we are.

Dialogue about what?

See my example about gun violence discussion. No one knows what the issue is, they just want to feel good, so they say things like "we need to fix it" without actually providing a solution.

A lot of times just humanizing someone goes a long way. I'm sure lots of black people see a cop in uniform and automatically think bad, but if you have these types of community outreaches and you see that these cops are just dudes like they are and probably have some of the same sensibilities, that goes a really long ways in humanizing what some may just think are cops, all bad.

I think this is the 3rd time I've told you to see my previous post answering that specific question.

This thread just needs to die. I got caught up in it myself. The bbq was a great idea and hopefully it will lead to a better relationship between the black community and cops in that area.

Being friendly is a start to the solution. I think that's the point of this. Instead of yelling at each other, these people got together, had fun, and were friendly to each other.

You missed my point. My response was in response to someone saying that the police are just telling them to comply and that was the message. I am with you. I believe the message in this case was much more positive.
No worries. It's hard to tell what some of the positions are with this. The bottom line is, this was a great thing to happen and I think it's a great idea to do stuff like this in the future. These meet ups a great way to break the ice.
