This is how you do it! This is how real dialogue could be started. Neither side budging is fruitless.

quote:

Activist A.J. Bohannon had organized more than 1,000 Black Lives Matters protesters to march the streets of Wichita on Sunday. But then, days before, he received a call from the new police chief with a different idea.

Instead of having an event that drew a hard line between protester and police, why not bring them all together for an evening of summer revelry and open dialogue?

So instead of marching, they gathered in a wooded park where the police department cooked and served up burgers. The officers played basketball with kids. They took group selfies. One officer did the "whip and the nae nae" and the "Cha Cha Slide" in a crowd of dancing girls - a video that instantly became a viral sensation.

To summate:

If you play by the rules of polite society and American law, police officers are easy to get along with?

Good for the chief. He was probably like "I really don't want to have to deal with all this shite, lets just throw a bbq and see if we can agree to join us instead of wasting everyone's time protesting"

That's really not the message they were sending.

That sounds great!
I'm sure it will work out well.
The rule of law and decent civility is highly overrated.

What exactly are you expecting the police to budge from, maintaining law and order?

not having a dialogue. That has not worked, neither has the whining of BLM.

How is this on the cops? Why is it their responsibility to give shite away to black people in order to make them respect them? Where are your black leaders and why aren't they organizing their own BBQs where, now get ready for this, THEY INVITE THE COPS TO JOIN THEM? You act like cops are shooting black men in drive bys or some shite. It's simple. Stop breaking the law and then resisting arrest. And before you bring up the Florida cop, that dude is fricked and he should be.

Here's the only dialog that needs to happen:

Cops: don't break the law or we'll arrest you
Black people: ok
Cops: and if you threaten our safety expect to get tasered or shot.
Black people: ok

End of dialog.

who said anything about giving stuff away? Getting to a dialogue is a process and it does not have to involve giving stuff away. They chose chose to do that. Good for them
