Are they really worth the extra money?

No. Stick with factory oil filters.

I used one once because they were out of my filter size and it's all they had left. The socket adapter on the bottom doesn't work for me because of the clearance I have at the filter. It was a bitch getting it off.

I noticed no noticeable difference in my trucks performance.

Gave me 85HP and after I added the wing it boosted me to 115 HP.

Because they don't filter any better, at least not enough of a difference for any well maintained vehicle to care.

On newer vehicles I always purchase the OEM filters and use the recommended oil viscosity. These new engines were designed to run with this, and that why I use them.

On older equipment (especially tractors) I typically run Wix brand.

I stay away from their filters too. If you want a "performance" air filter then look at S&B or several others that make dry media filters. Even then, unless you are running a power-adder or some serious engine work, a filter is only going to lighten your wallet.

K&N oil fitlers are fine filters. But I don't think they are worth the premium over a Wix filter. If you need more info there is a forum called Bob is the oil guy that goes into more depth.

They only work if you put the sticker on your back window

Mobil 1 and K&N filters are the same. If the extra $5 gives you piece of mind then yes, they're worth it.

Wix or NAPA would be my go-to, all things being equal, but I use the OEM filters for my Tacoma. I don't pretend to second-guess engineers. I do use synthetic oil and IMO, all the top-shelf brands are equally good, separated by marketing.

More partial to Callaghan Auto Parts. Sales reps are top notch.

Will add 5-10hp which you will never notice. You will also forget to clean it and spray it.

You should have added a YETI sticker, it's good for another 20HP.
