Oh and if you are close enough to her sisters or friends you may want to enlist their help.

This is the only answer. She is going to have that ring (hopefully) on her finger for the rest of her life constantly showing it off. Make sure you get this 100% right.

Do your due diligence, and get with a trusted female friend/family member of hers. One of them should know.

Should I bring her with me and let her pick one out or just do my best to pick something I think she will like so I can make it a surprise?

If you know her well enough to propose you should know what she wants

I got some ocean front property in Iowa to sell you if you are interested.

Well I know how much i paid for the ring and how much I would've had to pay if I bought it retail from a store like Jared or Kay's.

I absolutely love it that my husband picked out my ring completely on his own. No help from me. No advice. I love that I was shocked as hell when he proposed. Too many alpha females trying to control men out there. They may win but their husbands are miserable.

And that's great that you liked that. But...not every woman is the same way. Couples do what works for them. What works for you may not work for others.

Some women want to have input in that decision, some don't. Again...it's not a negative thing either way. He just needs to know where HIS SO stands on that issue, all that matters.

It's a three stone princess cut with platinum band. 2.1 tcw (1.05 middle stone,.4 each side stone,.25 I'm the band). I'd have to look on exact color and clarity. I think it's D color.

When I was going to propose to my girlfriend I had a friend of hers take her to lunch and then shopping and to jewelry stores under the guise of a fun girls day. Then her friend told me what she liked and I went to Anton's on Coursey and found the style she liked in a ring I could afford.
