I remember jerking off to Jenny McCarthy's tits. I would download the fully nude photo but would be done before it got to her pussy.

Those made great frisbees
My brother and I used to save all the ones we received in the mail for July 4th where we'd put the old M-80 firecrackers in the center, light the fuse and toss like a frisbee. They wouldn't break immediately so we got a couple tosses out of each one.

Never was about that AOL. Prodigy all the way for me.

I thought they were called CD-Roms back then, and DVDs came out a few years later?
I still use AOL for people/businesses I know will flood my in-box with junk/chains/spam.

Forward this on and you will receive a check for $10k; AOL and Intel are merging.

This was my first thought as well. Or if you are real old school, you got them on 3.5 floppies.

A lot of us old guys are very familiar with 3.5 floppies...

AT&T. They bought TCI which originally provided @Home, IIRC.
When we moved to BR in 99 @home came an installed cable internet in our apt. We were the first neighborhood to get this space age technology!

I still use my AOL email when a website makes me enter one. No telling how much spam is on that thing

I was just a kid at the time and only cared whether the internet was working or not, but this sounds right. I remember TCI@home was so bad where I lived that we switched back to dialup briefly, followed by an AOL/Hughes satellite service I think, until Cox was established here.

Dont think these are paying subscribers. AOL makes it vety difficult to get rid of your email account. Almost impossible. They want to be able to tell there advertisers they have X number of subscribers.
Some people still have dial up you know.....I can see the number being accurate.
I doubt 2.2 million is the number of abandoned and forgotten accounts of what was one of the largest interest providers in the country.
Especially one that sold for billions earlier this year.

Looking at my Microsoft Money checking archives, I have a bill dated 5/2000 for "AT&T @Home" for $42.56. The next month is for "Cox", same amount. I apparently never had service with TCI, but I do recall AT&T buying them out, and googling confirms it.
