So don't call a chick "honey" at work. That's stupid.

Stupid. That's exactly how I feel.

"Honey" is the office equivalent of "whore" or "skanky slut mouth."

It is a terrible word that has kept women down for centuries.

Why would someone call some random female co-worker that they have no personal relationship with "honey"? It just looks and sounds a bit creepy there.

You shouldn't. She should feel like a whiny count for making a big deal about it.

Such a great word when trying to be condescending. Or variations like "winner".

Well I'll use it while trying to comfort a 5 year old boy when I'm having to draw blood or start an iv. I'll tell them they are very brave as well afterwards.

Also....some of these kids have names I can't pronounce....using a go to "sweetie" or "tiger" is just easier sometimes

She probably overreacted, but apparently you should not have said it. Like most things, know your audience.

It's probably ok to call the receptionist that blows you under the desk "honey". Less ok to call your female boss or resident uptight chick the same.

I've heard women use this in a condescending way towards a man. Quite a few times actually.

You should have replied, "Sorry bitch, I didn't mean to offend you".

Yea, I wasn't saying it was condescending to a child. It just reminded me how I like to use it sarcastically to adults.

And neither should be acceptable in a professional environment.

What is so hard about having some common sense in the work place? (not aimed at you MJ2)

That's pure bullshite propaganda that you've been fed by the bitchmade PC crowd. You know what's really unprofessional in a work environment. Getting all pissy and making a huge stink about the word "honey."

If the guy saying it was flaming gay then it's ok.

gee, I dunno.

why are some black people sensitive to being called "boy"?

use your brain brah.

you used a term that is either a sweet nothing between lovers or a sarcastic putdown almost exclusively used on women.

I got warned for writing "Morning Ladies" to two co-workers as an intro to an interoffice email.
