I've never really understood how hard it is for some people to just pull in to a mom & pop shop where they don't even check your car and get a real one. The guy I've been going to since I got my first car in 98 has NEVER even bothered to even check if my headlights are working.

I'm surprised I haven't pulled over get for it, I got Tennessee plates and we Dont get inspected but I would've figured by now that an LA cop over the last five years wohldve pulled me over at least.

Yeah, Orleans is very different. They now get in the vehicle, gas it and slam on the brakes to test them.

On the flip side, at least (hopefully) nobody is breaking into that guy's house while there are so many cop cars parked in his neighborhood.

OP, I think the cost depends on the parish and who issued the ticket--BR.gov says $118, but EBRSO says $143.25. It looks like Tangipahoa Parish is $168. LINK

Port Allen, where they set up all the time, is like $145.

I've been stopped in Baton Rouge twice for this since moving to Georgia. The whole "brake tag' thing is idiocy.

Officer accusingly - "Why don't you have ANY inspection sticker on your vehicle!?"

"Because if you check my license you'll see I live in Georgia."

I honestly thought these were a myth. I have never witnessed one. my inspection sticker expired 8/2012

Some people are just exceptions to the rule..

My girlfriend's mom's tag expired in 2010 in Kenner. Her exceuse is she can never get to the lone Kenner brake tag station as she works m-sat on the westbank.
I have been pulled over so many times in Kenner for being a couple of months over, I don't know how she gets away with it. It's an old design too so it sticks out. (Unlike Louisiana tags, ours change design every 4-5 years)

Mine expired 08/13. I should probably get a new one since I live in port Allen but my windows are way too dark to pass inspection and I'm not pulling my tint off for a bs sticker!

I havent read the entire thread so im not sure if it was aaddressed or not but for what its worth I've seen and driven through several checkpoints in bad parts of town while I'm making trips back and forth across br during the week.

When they setup in the hood they roll out deep with extra patrol cars and man power.

Me too. I tried to evade by pulling into a shopping center but he caught me. I had gotten a new windshield and the windshield guy cut the sticker out with the glass still on it. It had fallen down onto the floor and I had spent 10 mins looking for it when the cop got a call and had to go.

Cause in Some parts you have to go to City run shops. Not the same.

Late last year had my wife's vehicle inspected at the station on Tiger Ben road, man putting the sticker on the windshield told me that LADPS is working on getting stickers with some type chip imbedded inside the sticker and the police can use a scanner while driving down the road to see if you are out of date - sounds kinda far fetch - I'm sure they are working on something with all the technology on there now.
