Assuming those censored portions aren't slurs, take it up with that news station. They call it racist in a matter of fact way.

Jesus, you're a psycho. The thread says racist comments and the picture had black bars on it. That's a pretty easy assumption to make.

Psychotic people like you are the problem with our gene pool, a-hole.

This wasn't racist. It wasn't a smart thing for him to post being in the position that he's in, but not a fireable offense in my opinion.

What he posted was not worth being fired over. Look, everyone has to be careful what they post on social media. If you work for a company and you post things on social media that they do not want to be associated with, the company can fire you.

I think the part of his post that made it seem racist is when he says "they declare war on my brothers" then added (white police officers). At the time it was probably an emotional post by the guy and with everything going on I think there are many other ways to address the situation without firing the guy.

If he had left the word "White" out, he would have been ok.

If he hadn't said "Mr. fricking president when are you going to grow a fricking pair" he might have made it out too.

I you want to plaster your name next to comments like that as a public official, you deserve whatever fate you get.

Did the black firefighter get fired yet for posting that we need to put a bullet in police officers heads?

in many ways, he could've been fired from his very public position for posting a political view.

if he would've said, BLM vs my brothers (cops) he might've been safe. or if he would've classified that all mass shooters are terrorists and we need to declare war on them he would've been safe.

but he didn't. he linked a protest group to a terrorism group. people he represents in the community are of that skin color and that group.

he was rightfully fired for speaking his public piece from a high profile job. i'm sure he's a good man and a good cop but being police chief includes being skilled at pr.

he failed and deserves to be fired.

I'm sure the mayor wanted a jury to give his son a second chance when he was arrested for armed robbery but he fires a white cop for speaking out against Obama. Hiram Evans is such a fricking crook.

People that share the opinion of which you just gave is what's wrong with this country.

He "deserved" to get fired for that post?
Really?
It's amazing it doesn't go both ways... Only when someone white says it.

GFY.

don't be crass, bojangles. his job is to represent the view of the community at all times, and most importantly, he is the FACE of the jonesville police department. not a minion, but the leader of the institution.

when he opened his mouth, he destroyed any chance of the community believing fully in the department and institution. ESPECIALLY in these times where every comment is elevated and sensitive. it was poor judgment for him to share his views publicly.

his own personal agenda is his right. but when he chose to share it publicly, he put his career in danger.

and if a black police chief cursed the president to declare a war on white police officers then he'd deserve to be fired too.

The article makes it about race but that has nothing to do with my opinion. He exercised incredibly poor judgement by making a comment like that as a public figure. You are the chief of police, not a derrickhand. Being fired or asked to resign is a reasonable consequence that you should have known before you said/posted it.

he would've likely been suspended as a cop. but he's the top guy. top guy has a higher standard. and rightly should.

bojangles, if the principal of your high school made lewd comments on facebook about a teen pop star, he'd get fired too. that's the level of PR responsibility that comes with the job.

Exactly. I don't think it was racist, nor do I think he specifically "deserves" to be fired, but I don't have a ton of sympathy for someone in a public position who makes inflammatory and unprofessional remarks in a public setting.

"you want me on that wall."

posting shite on FB shows his lack of control regarding his community. dumbassery of that level requires firing. he made that choice. subconsciously wanted out.
