Got lucky enough to get one here in Kingwood for a few years. Owner was from Monroe that moved here about 20 years ago. He worked at the Johnny's across from NLU back in the day. I had to seriously try to keep myself out of there once a week. However he closed up shop about 4 months ago. I guess Houston didn't appreciate what us from Mecca take for granted as the best pizza on earth. I guess it's ok since going to Johnny's' was a ritual when I went back home but it lost it's luster when I had one by my house. Now it's game on when I go back now.

RIP Johnny. I know I kept your pockets fat every time I was hungover from one to many nights out at Sal's.

About 30 years ago he smoked a golf ball through our group during a scramble and gave free pizza coupons to us.

Unrelated my father helped him out during some lean times, he never forgot that, always traded with him, and showed acts of kindness towards my dad.

Godspeed......

Went to their main office with another lawyer many years ago. In the hall at the office, there is a board where the company would post all complaint letters received. I'm checking out the board, but the other lawyer keeps trying to push (figuratively) everyone down the hall. The reason - one of the complaint letters was written by his parents.

Oddly enough, both Johnny Huntsman and the lawyer who was with me passed away this year.

The pizza off the buffet at Highland kinda sucks but the togo pizza is pretty good. I like it better than any of the other chain pizza around here.

It's mostly in North Louisiana. And Johnny's is the same cheap pizza tier as Dominos, but it is the best of that tier. If you just want cheap shitty pizza then it's one of the best options. The crust sets them apart.

I imagine there may be at least a week of mourning in North Louisiana with flags at half-mast

But seriously... what is with peoples' obsession in Louisiana with Johnny's Pizza?

I'll concede to you that its not as good as it was before it kind of blew up, but why support some national chain when you have a local business of at least the same quality and price? I still think its really good.

Sad to hear. The guy was one of the best pizza makers there ever was. He didn't know how to run a business in the beginning, but he is very smart and hired somebody for that and because of that, Johnny's is what I t is today.

Yep. About two months ago at the Farmerville location I had a bad experience with the help. Swore off that location.

My mother is from Farmerville, and I still have a good bit of family who live there. Just funny to see it mentioned somewhere.

Johnny's pizza is not the same as it once was. But it's still good at some locations.

I used to drink with Johnny at a Monroe bar. Always was a down to earth guy.

Yeah its extremely over priced, think the new guys drove prices up while johnny was out of office. I doubt he would have allowed it

Yeah I had the buffet for lunch every once in a while and it was solid buffet pizza. Actually got one to take home once and it was obviously better.
