Nobody is gonna kick your dog for no reason.
If they did, they deserve a slap to the face hard as you can.

But if the person just kicks my dog for no apparent reason, then we have a problem.

This. People are acting as though I'm saying I'd go up and fricking go Michael Vick on random dogs for no reason.

Yes, you do have carte blance. That's why there are leash laws.

you think leash laws say that you get to kill a dog if its not on a leash and comes anywhere near you regardless of if its a threat or not?

As much as I love pugs I can't say that woman was 100% without any responsibility in this. That is why you keep your dog on a leash. It protects others, but also protects the dog as well. Drives me crazy when I see people with their dogs on hiking trail and not leashed. They are only putting their dogs at potential risk. Only time I ever let go of my dogs' leashes is if we are going downhill a mountain trail on a steep slope down and they could potentially pull me down and fall. I let them go to get down slope and then quickly pick leashes up.

your pug is strong.

Define "threat."

People probably let their dogs off the leash there all the time and it pisses they guy off when they get in his way during a run. Guaranteed he kicked the dog out of frustration not fear

I doubt the guy intended to kill the dog. But...play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

I hope I see one illegally (unleashed) pug on the street. I'm going to pull a Morton Anderson on that thing.

I own two dogs and they are leashed in public.

I've had unleashed dogs try to bite me and have been bitten. I follow the law, so should others.

Really? A 15 pound animal can't inflict a bite worse than a 15 pound dog? You may want to loom up the definition of "moron".

Rats are diseased and dig around in the trash. Pugs also tend to be more expensive than most other dog breeds, so they're likely pretty vaccinated. It's ridiculous to compare the 2.

I also have a 75 lb lab mix though, I hike with both of them. He can easily pull me and make me fall. He's done it before in the past by accident.

If the dog didn't bite him, why did he feel the need to punt the damn thing hard enough to kill it?

It mean for fricks sake, it isn't that hard to take 10 seconds to stop running to let the woman get her dog. Hell, call the cops on her for not having a leash on it if you want. But kicking an animal? That's disgusting.

Really?

Is it in the constitution that I can't take a piss on your dog or on you in public?

It's not in the constitution that I can't train a pit bull to eat your 3 year old. But it's illegal.

I guess you could argue it infringes on my right to life since i have no idea what diseases that thing could have.

Which dog do you think can get a better grip? One that looks like it has it's face kicked in, or one with a longer snout that can latch onto to someone? Pugs can't get much of a grip on things.

there are conflicting statements from both parties as to how hard the dog was kicked.

Does that really matter?
