This may be in the works to get me the hell out of this awful state of Virginia. If I worked out of Ponchatoula, where would be the best area within 30-50 milesof it to raise two boys and what high school has the best athletics in that area?

Ponchatoula just had an undefeated regular season and lost to eventual state champ Acadiana in the playoffs.

ABSOLUTELY! It sucks in every way...I am 100 miles from Washington DC and this may as well be a suburb of it. It is full of Yankees that have moved down driving up the cost of homes, the food SUCKS, and they tax you to death up here...ever heard of personal property tax? Did I mention how liberal this place is? I am a southerner and this state is not southern in 2015...time to try and get back home to real people.

I am from West Monroe...which of those areas would be similar? Good schools and I know the food would be better. ANYTHING is better than what Virginia offers...the seafood is a joke.

Mandeville or Covington. No question.

Ponchatoula is growing somewhat. They even have their own Wakmarks now.

Best Schools-
Livingston Parish
Ascension Parish
then probably St. Tammany

Sports:
Ascension
Livingston
St. Tammany

Living:
Ascension
Livingston
St. Tammany

I mean seriously it is up to you, all 3 places puts you close to a major city (Baton Rouge or New Orleans)

Move to Mandeville or Covington. St. Tammany Parish schools are great. The private schools are better. You can't go wrong in the Mandeville/Covington area. Madisonville is a good way to go if you want to buy a few acres of property as well.

I've got a five year old house for sale on the Tangipahoa/ St Tammany line. Email me if interested.

I need to be out of it by July 1 when my new one is ready.

I'm from the better side of the Ouachita River and can help with your questions about being from the Mecca and adapting in these parts.

Ponchatoula is about as good a place as you can be. There sports teams are doing great. The girls basketball team just won the State title and the boys football team just had an undefeated regular season. The schools are fine.

Plenty of good area to live along the Northshore all the to Denham. I would avoid the Hammond public schools. Ponchy public schools are good. Why commute when everything is here. I couldn't say this in the past put currently Ponchatoula High has the best athletics in this area. Anything you want to know or need to find out let me know. Will help all I can ponchytiger@yahoo.com
