It's even worse than that because JV was a part of the UDT/SEAL fraternity. Those kinds of statements that Kyle made can ruin your stature in that community which is very important to each and every one of those men. I could very easily see the need to clear your name if, in fact, it was lies.

Him continuing to sue Kyle after his death made him look car worse I the general public eye and in the "fraternity" he was a part of then the alleged comments ever could have.

reading the lies he put on paper?

Like..?

What about when he told the New Yorker magazine that him and a buddy set up on top of the Superdome during Katrina and picked off armed citizens who were causing trouble? That must have happened since he said it right?
And the carjacking in Tx is a joke. Not one gas station, law enforcement officer, Texas Ranger, or Medical Examiner can back up even one piece of that story. You'd think if you dropped two men with a pistol at a gas station one of the above mentioned people would know something about it, yes?

I don't know the whole story, but I consider Ventura a total flake.

That said, I've always heard it was pretty hard to prove defamation lawsuits.

The irony in all of this is the idea that Jesse Ventura pursued this lawsuit to clear his good name, but this suit will likely do more to damage his name than that book could have ever done.

This.

What?

Just based on this thread, it seems like Kyle was a nut job.

so what?

he's suppose to just accept lies being thrown around about him just because the liar died?

If Ventura wants to be reaccepted into the SEAL community that has shunned him (bc let's face it, SEALs like CK way more), he should take that $1.8M and give it to Wounded Warriors or right back to CK's widow. I'd regain some respect for him if that happened

It would probably regain him some respect from people, but Jesse's pig-headed enough that he'll wave this judgment in people's faces while also whining about how he's now ostracized from the SEAL community.

IIRC, Jesse has gotten in trouble with that community before by misrepresenting his experiences, mainly in that he claims he was a SEAL instead of a member of the Underwater Demolitions Team.

All SEALs came from the UDT, but not all of the UDT were SEALs.

"All I wanted to do was clear my name, and it has nothing to do with a widow or anything like that," Ventura said on "CBS This Morning" during his first post-trial interview.
I'm wondering which charity he'll donate the $1.8 million to? I always knew he was a great guy.

In keeping the suit alive against the "estate", he was in fact suing the widow. Yes, the insurance company as well but that always happens. He sued & won damages against a widow. If all he really wanted was to save his name, claim the victory the jury gave him & then waive the award or donate as previously suggested. But as far as his rep with any SEALS goes, my brother-in-law's son 9( my nephew) is one & the son said JV best never get caught hanging around any SEAL bars or he will get his arse whipped for real.

The Truthers Fund or some other douchebaggery org.

Whether or not Kyle lied, I don't know.

I think it's pretty clear Ventura is a bizarre and shitty human being, however.

Agreed. But if CK lied too, then he was also a shitty human being.

since he just won judgement, shouldnt he be allowed to collect before donating?

Yeah, that was it.

He's on another planet.

It really makes me wonder about Minnesota voters.
