Jeremiah Andrew Denton Jr., who spent 7½ years as a prisoner of war in Vietnam and later won election to the U.S. Senate from Alabama, died Friday. He was 89.

During a TV interview arranged by the North Vietnamese in May 1966, Denton blinked his eyes in Morse code, repeatedly spelling the word T-O-R-T-U-R-E.

Men like this built this country.

It is inspiring. It also frightening to see where we are headed now.

A good friend of my dad was shot down and held for almost 6 years. Ed mechenbier. Truly horrific what they had to go through.

Admiral and Senator Denton was an American HERO. Im frankly surprised he lived to 89 with his life long traumas.

God Bless. We need more like him.

(fun fact to know and share...)

A following sea gives you additional thrust through the water, similar to a tail wind on an aircraft, but its also good for seasickness because it can make the back end of a poorly designed boat corkscrew.

Interestingly the 747SP had this same problem with tailwinds.

In a span of about 5 minutes, i went from not knowing who Jeremiah Denton was, to reading the article, watching that interview, and ordering his book on Amazon.
