Algebra 3 is for two types of people: the main type is students whose math act score is not very high. The other type of student who takes algebra 3 is lazy and doesn't want to take pre-calculus. Algebra 3 is a watered down version of algebra 2, but doesn't cover nearly as much material. Most of them have to take the same course when they get to college before they can take college algebra.

My school didn't bother with that shite.

If Algebra 2 was out of your league, it was off to Business Math for you.

hy are seniors taking algebra 3? I took that in 10th grade and took full blown calculus as a senior.

because that is the standard course trajectory I believe which is why your calculus class was an "AP Class" (or at least thats how it worked in my school)

Yeah it's ridiculous. I have students in my algebra 3 classes whose act math scores range from 14 to 29.

You must live a miserable life if torturing high school seniors brings you joy.

Are you saying knowing basic algebra is not important in life?

Or are you saying knowing everything I'm going over specifically tomorrow in my classes is not important in life?

If it's the former, you're crazy. If it's the latter, you're right. Most probably won't use it after college math courses.

I tell mine they have to write a timed essay, five paragraphs, worth five total points.

And if they miss that day, they don't have to make it up.

Why not go into spherical coordinates integrals and really scare the ones that go?

Or do some proofs that no one cares about? Just give me the damn equation and move on.
