Then they will never get a new stadium unless the city does it. Should have just kept the program shut down.

Well Tulane just build a new stadium completely funded by private donations. But agree, UAB should have just kept the program shut down or better yet never have started it

IMHO, the City owe's UAB - it is one of the largest employers in the state and UAB literally is what puts Birmingham on the freaking map, in a good way. They should pony up the lion's portion of a UAB football field IMO.
Where do you think the city would find the funds for ANY new facilities? Have you checked their tax structure lately? Do you know what their reputation is around the bond market?

You're confusing Birmingham City with Jefferson County.

I understand that, but I think you'll find that the bond climate within either body to be very negative.

I will when you stop talking out of your arse.
Find me a Bank that'll finance any bond proposal on a project like that in Jeff. Co/B'ham, then get back to me.

Awesome. I guess now I can expect my free season tickets and coupons for free meals at local restaurants if I show proof I used those free tickets this coming fall.

I don't get it. I remember a time when most Alabama/Auburn fans would say that UAB should suspend football. Is that not what you want?

If not, why do you care if UAB plays football? I remember them once having a competitive basketball team, but don't recall UAB ever being good in football.

UAB will have to give away tickets, in order to meet minimums attendance criteria for this division of football. They always have done it this way. It won't change.

Do you say the same things about Troy and USA, two teams who produce half the athletic revenue of UAB and didn't average as many fans in the seats just this past year even though they both hosted power programs? Or does UAB football just embarrass you that much as an Alabama fan because they are apart of the same system?

UAB needs to dump Legion Field if they're bringing back football. Where's the money for a new stadium?

Watts pretty much said that UAB will not build a football stadium period. The city or boosters are on their own. Apparently they're putting down new turf on the practice field and building a fieldhouse with the extra pledged money.
