Yeah, but we don't realize how many portions we eat or how often we eat.

IF and "eat multiple small meals a day" are both myths and have zero bearing on weight loss. Calories in < Calories out will make you lose weight and it is as simple as that. Doesn't matter how you get your calories.

so you really think that 2000 cal of doughnuts and 2000 cal of spinach effect the body the same? and if i eat 2000 cal of doughnuts and i burn 2100 cal a day you really think ill loose weight?

and positive nitrogen balance and supplying your body with a steady stream of proteins to create an environment more condusive to muscle growth are most definitely not myths

It won't effect the body the same but you will lose weight at the same rate. Granted you will feel sick and be hungry the whole time.

As long as you keep a deficit you WILL lose weight.

It's nearly impossible to not lose SOME muscle on any weight loss diet.

You can limit the loss through protein and build muscle through strength training.

If your point is a calorie isn't just a calorie, yes, there's some validity there. Protein calories are more valuable because it takes the body more calories to process it.

Yes indeed. This is how I lost 90 pounds in 9 months. I tracked everything I ate for two weeks in a journal. It was disgusting but I couldn't deny it when the numbers were staring at me in black and white. Some days I would eat 6,000-7,000 calories. It's really not that hard if you're eating out. I've had the weight off for two years now and I'll never let it happen again.

Because of those apps, I don't see food as food anymore. I see it as energy, with an assigned caloric value. A cookie isn't a delicious treat. It's a 360 calorie orb of energy. If I don't need it, I don't eat it.
