Here's just a few things Amazon does that have impressed me again and again:
-widest selection of products on the web
-consistently low prices
-Prime. Prime is such a good deal you would have to be a complete moron not to have it. Free 2 day shipping on virtually every product. Not to mention the Prime music/movie streaming service that gets more free content every day
-Competent, friendly employees who can actually help you
-Hassle free returns. Amazon will take back almost anything for any reason, no questions asked. They even give you your money back BEFORE they get the product back
-Reliable reviews. Any online shopping site is going to have some fake reviews but Amazon seems to keep it to a minimum and I always feel confident buying a product rated 4.5+ stars
-Subscribe and Save. I'll never buy bathroom products from a store ever again
-etc., etc., etc......

TL;DR: Amazon rules and CAD can lick my scrotum

All of that and they can't even turn a profit. Love them and use them all the time, but 40 years from now there's gonna be a book about the fall of Amazon and the absurdity of that business model

I agree with everything else on your list, but fake reviews on Amazon are rampant. Granted, Amazon has a proactive approach to weeding them out, but the company is too big to be able to stop them all. There are businesses that make money solely by selling five-star reviews that are guaranteed to avoid Amazon's filters. It's more prominent in certain product categories, like supplements, self-help books, or anything related to general health/fitness.

It's not that they can't. They just choose not to. Their revenue increases every year. What would be profits are put into rapid expansion.

Do you even check their pricing? Far from low pricing. Convenience maybe, but they are high on alot of things. Guess they gotta be with all that 'free' shipping.

This is true. Oft times they are lowest, but not everytime that it's worth checking another website. Or your local store.

Fair enough. But in my experience when I actually read through the reviews instead of just looking at the score I can usually tell which ones are genuine. Maybe they've fooled me but I rarely find a product to be significantly worse than I expected

This. I wouldn't invest in amazon but their model is sustainable. If for no other reason than the fact that they have eggs in every imaginable basket

Good thing Amazon only hires the best front end and back end developers to ensure its platform is bar non best. Headed to work there in Seattle as an engineer next year after I graduate.

Good thing the engineers make it possible for you to spend money recklessly and for Amazon to cash in on your impulse buying.

I have gotten to many fake/counterfeit items from Amazon...so much so that I have quit using them all together.

If you type the product in on Google, you usually get a bunch of merchants on the right side, and a link to Amazon in the search results

I got one counterfeit item from Amazon years ago, a cheap iPad case that looked nothing like the product listing. It was shipped by Amazon but sold by a third party seller. I contact Amazon and got a refund quickly, and within a few days that seller was gone from Amazon. Except in rare circumstances, I stick to items that are at least shipped by Amazon, and I never get burned.

Prime is the IRL 10 who always answers your late night booty call but isn't clingy.

I agree with most all of what you say, but there shipping practices are starting to piss me off.

I am a prime member and am used to getting everything in two days. Well lately, they have been off loading final delivery to the USPS and 2 days is becoming 3 or 4 days because of those inept frickers at the post office.

Way to ruin your brand Amazon.
