There was a drone thread a while back posted by a guy who suspected his neighbor was taking pics of his wife while she was sunbathing. He wanted to break out his goose gun and start shooting. I suggested letting his kids throw wet nerf footballs at it. If hit, it would come down and he wouldn't get busted for discharging a firearm in the neighborhood.

I would say it was below the tops of my trees when I plugged it.
I am not going to say I could shoot down a moving helo-drone at 80 feet either.

I'm still not 100% sure it would be legal to just destroy it, just because someone else may be breaking the law I'm not sure you can destroy their property. I'm trying to think of a parallel.

This. Even if someone is being a nuisance, you'd typically not allowed to destroy their property.
I guess it would fall to the totality of the circumstances to really come to a decision. I don't envy someone who would have to decide that one.

You own the right to airspace above your property to the extent that the US government has not taken complete dominion over. The test for this is the US owns all airspace that would allow safe flight (by plane). The height of this has been placed at 500 Ft. in day and 1000 Ft. at night.

Depending on where you live, I could see firing a gun directly up into the air being an issue.

If someone pulls into your driveway past a "No Trespassing" sign can you shoot then? Or their car?
For the drone, criminal violation, probably felony, and likely responsibility for paying for the damage you cause, i.e., buying them another drone and whatever it might have been carrying.
Are they breaking the law, probably. Call the police. Unless they try to fly it into your window, in which case, fire away.

I would shoot that bitch down. Then dispose of the evidence. What kind of range do those things have? I guess they have GPS on them for tracking? Even if so, they couldn't prove anything.

All of my guns shoot themselves. Often at drones for no reason. I tell them to stop but they don't listen.

I do not live in a city. I live outside of the city limits in the county. It is not against the law for me to discharge a firearm on my property.
