Is Joan Of Arc The Next Target For Take ‘Em Down NOLA?

Last night, the Joan Of Arc statue in the French Quarter was vandalized. Some punk spray painted “tear it down” on it. This symbolic offense touches on another part of New Orleans’s vast history: the connection to France. The golden bronze statue is installed in the heart of the Quarter at the Plade de Frace near the French Market, gifted by France to the citizens of New Orleans in 1972. LINK /

But if you look carefully at the Take ‘Em Down NOLA list, you see some attacks on people not connected to slavery. Instead, Take ‘Em Down NOLA is also attacking New Orleans’s ties to France. They want the statue of Bienville, the founder of New Orleans to be removed. They also want General De Gaulle Drive in Algiers to be renamed. They want to erase the ties between New Orleans and France.

And this dead dude, d'Iberville, displacer of indigenous, peaceable folk and was NOT a fighter for native-people's LBGTQRSTUV rights.
And take Huey Long's name off the bridge, he reportedly used the "N" word.

Just shows how ignorant people are of history.

Hell, I bet a hypothetical statue of Toussaint Louverture would be vandalized with a "tear it down" tag at this point. Complete ignorance.

That's a statue of Jean-Baptiste de Bienville (as noted on the base). He was the brother of Le Moyne d'Iberville. The streets are next to each other so I can understand your mistake.

This is starting to become a war on European heritage.
This seems well thought out.

Or perhaps it's a bunch of idiots who see any statue of a white person and automatically think racist.

Is she a symbol of fighting to preserve slavery? No? OK, you have your answer.

You know better and many others know better, and I daresay that some T'eD s know better, too. But it really is an all-out culture war at this point, and the Dems. see a way to more power because of it, and will go along.

These punks with no education or knowledge of History are all fricking morons.
I wonder if they realize had we never had slavery the majority of them would be poor and starving in sub-saharan Africa. That sometimes the horrible things in our past lead to a better future.
