You're alone in this one I suspect.

And I'm not championing an "atheist agenda"... Ignorant fricking people who make things into more than what they are are what ruins America.

That doesn't sound very Christian of them.

In all likelihood they weren't. They came off as some idiots that probably never attend church, but since Sean Hannity told them there was some war on Christmas, they had to go get in everyone's face about it

Reading your OP, it would seem as though you fall into that category.

Touché.

I realize the "beta-ness" of my OP... I was in a discussion and maybe too boozed up to form a viable argument so I came here to get ammo.

I don't think so, the same way I don't think it's a big deal to say "Happy Holidays" to a Christian. Regardless of what I believe, Christmas is my favorite day of the year.

In the same vane, I don't get offended by being wished a merry Christmas. Someone is literally taking the time to wish me well in a way which is meaningful to them.

Man I wish more of the offended crowd would just realize this.

And yes. I do believe that there was a dude named "Jesus" who walked the earth, but do I think he turned water into wine? ...I wish.

I don't feel like I'm being a hypocrite by saying it to my mother who still practices Catholicism... (But maybe I am?)

Can anyone give me a reason as to *why* I do this?

I'm just not that big enough of an a-hole to cause drama over something as trivial (in my mind) as saying "Merry Christmas"...

Please advise.

I think you're over thinking this.

I don't get into the whole beta thing. What matters is that we treat each other with respect and that we realize that we don't have all of the answers.

Christmas refers to a specific day, December 25th. If you do not choose to celebrate it based on religious reasons you can still say Merry Christmas back, hoping that they have a good day, for whatever reason works for you.

There is no reason to get all Massengill about any of it.

I hope you, and all, have a great December 25th.

Notice the superior attitude
OP feels need to correct everyones errors. Not much different than a militant fundamentalist christian really

I still say it just to make things easier for everyone around me (we are in the deep south), but I draw the line at "God Bless You" and "God Save You" when someone sneezes because I believe it is rude and insults their intelligence.
