Is it insensitive to veterans to have a fireworks show not on a major holiday?

We had some local charity event or something have a fireworks show over the weekend and a veteran in the neighborhood FB group lost his mind over it claiming all kinds of stuff and how they should apologize to all veterans because they didn't give proper warning. He blasted the event company all over the internet and whatnot and was just overall melting down. It seemed that half the people agreed with him, while the others didn't know what else the event company could have done as they did advertise publicly that the event and fireworks would take place.

So the following night, some jackass kids decided to prank the veteran and fire off some fireworks right behind his house and the guy had to be taken away in an ambulance because apparently he had a panic attack. Which, of course, is awful, but no way anyone could prove it was intentional.

The first incident is his problem.

The second is a dick move.

If someone isn't bitching about vets being offended by fireworks, it is their dogs. People are such pussies.

Make them put a sign in their yard or register... some do it just for attention which is sad for the ones that really have an issue.

No.

I assume he's claiming some sort of PTSD that was set off by the explosions?

I mean, we can't end society because some dudes come back from the Middle East fricked up. These guys need to get the help they require to get over these issues.

I can see how they would complain during holidays where it's really hard to escape fireworks, but he could have gone literally anywhere else and avoided this. Having a social media meltdown is just asking for someone to frick with you.

He argument is that he didn't know about it, so he couldn't prepare himself

He knows its coming during the holiday

So he has the right to lambaste anyone who makes sudden loud noises?

As a veteran who was in Afghanistan for 13 months, no. I'm so sick of military people wanting hand outs and special things every where they turn.

No, and he's being a douche about this. I am on an active social media campaign against veterans who complain about crap like this and post inane pictures all day long. Time for some of those bros to move on with life.
