I'm in that 'in between' category - not exactly "short" for a guy, but at 5'8" - I'm pushing it - as the kids get taller and I shrink as I age, I'm certainly headed for being a skyscraper in Tiny Town.

Having said that, it's a good thing - if I were tall, on top of the rest of my awesomeness, it wouldn't even be fair.

Soccer? Please, some of the best strikers are 6'3-6'4. Goalies are tall as well.

What about the other 9 players? Average height is probably 5'10 - 5'11". CBs tend to be pretty tall, but again, over 6'2" becomes a liability.

Strikers and forwards are getting shorter, too. The tall, hold up forward role isn't as popular as it once was.

There was a documentary on dating a few years ago on the discovery channel (or somesuch). They attended some speed dating sessions and quizzed the women afterwards in a roundabout way on who they liked and why.

The only thing significant in their findings?

Height. Although it was rarely mentioned explicitly, it outweighed attractiveness and personality.

It is a fact that taller people are generally more successful.

Ok so the sensible posters agree this is a thing. So are we to conclude this is an innate preference based on natural selection or something

Like its based on a preconceived notion about larger cocks. or back in gatherer days the tallest providers could see over everyone and notice the moose to spear first? or that we were less likely to walk around and not have our balls get snagged by twigs and bushes aka reproduction

Theres people on the ot way smarter than me that can solve this I know

It's definitely a thing. There are women that will not date anyone below 5'10''. I don't hold it against them. I have my preferences as well.

In that same vein these are some of the same ones saying they're no good men left, when they've already eliminated a huge portion of their dating pool because of something that has nothing to do with the man's character.

As long as they realize that they're getting in their own way, hey more power to them. I would even venture to guess that all women have a preference towards taller men, it's just that some have the ability to override that height bias and engage their higher thinking faculties to say, hey, maybe some of these shorter guys are worth dating too. And there are a lot of women that can do that, enough to where those other height-biased women don't really matter.

Yea but who decided its "best" to be tall and why. there are undeniable benefits to being short

If i was trying to escape from a wild boar or black bear in the old days id rather be the smaller more agile guy

I hate when short dudes have a bigger cock than me. God's little joke on me.

As the resident short person, my theory on this is that it's a matter of initial impressions. I saw a video study and they found that even when the interviewer was short, there was a hiring preference for taller men.

Speaking as a short guy, I can admit that I'm probably as prone to this as anyone. When I meet a guy who is over 6', there's just a subconscious view of them that's different than for a short guy.

Hell, I've been walking in a store before and seen a guy across the room that I've thought, "sheesh, that dude's short" only to walk by him and discover we're about the same height.

It is what it is. All that said, I think that another driver of this preference is that for many short men, it affects their outlook, so, they don't approach things as confidently and confidence sells.

On this front, I'm blessed. My father instilled a tall man's mentality in me(he's tall, my mom's the midget who caused me to be short). He never gave me a reason to think that being short was an excuse to not achieve be it on the baseball diamond, the football field or chasing women.

I'm thankful for that.

I was once about to deploy while in the Army and we were being briefed prior to lane training. I was near the back of the group so I couldn't see shite. Dude next to me was about 6'5" and BIG. He gave me a friendly ribbing about it.

I said, "yeah, but just remember this.....when we're in theater, to the enemy, I always look like the 300 meter target, you always look like the 50 meter target".

Honestly, it probably has to do with a biological instinct to be attracted to physicality. We've really only lived in a civilized world for 6,000 years and much of that has been marked by violence. Humanity has definitely shifted from prioritizing physicality to prioritizing intelligence but the biological coding is probably lagging behind.

It's all about confidence.

I'm short, but I was a better athlete than 90% of the people I played against in youth leagues and in HS (4 year all-district and 2 year all-state in one sport, 2 year all district in another. 5A) so confidence was never a problem for me.

I don't care that I'm short and tall people don't intimidate me. If you look down on me, pun intended, because I'm short that's your problem. Chances are I was more successful than you in HS, college, and now in my career. DWI.

Probably

Although, having been in enough gym locker rooms, there really is nothing stranger than some dude who is 6'6" in there with a tiny dick. You're like, WTF did God do to you man?

On the other hand, that short dude bouncing of his thighs makes you wonder, "where the frick do you buy pants"?
