Yea, bullying commercials are blankets for bullied kids to hide under. You kidding me? There is literally no harm in anti bullying commercials.

Just like the anti drug commercials.

War on drugs has cost billions

Not just on commercials

We aren't paying government agencies to directly combat bullying at the price of billions of dollars.

It's just at a commercial

Yet.

Bottom line, there isn't cocaine in our drinks anymore, stand up and be accountable, stop looking to society to remove your barriers. Social Security will not be around for these kids.

Good, people should fend for themselves and not cry when they get a hangnail.

Those are the ones you cull.

I was bullied by three kids when I was in first grade, got jumped a few times by all three of them and lost.

Waited until they went into the bathroom individually, shoved them down mid piss, and kicked them repeatedly.

I never had to worry about shite again.

In a state of nature, no man is so secure that he is always untouchable. If you can't win the fight, change the rules.

Kid gets bullied by same meanie every day for a year
Kid punches bully once
Kid gets expelled, arrested, and parents sued

That's the world we live in. I think it all changed when Columbine happened. I was born in 84, and experienced zero of this pussy stuff that has been going on in the 21st century while I was growing up. I think the only snowflakes were nerds

The main problem with bullying today is that kids don't have awesome ninja movies to learn from like we did growing up.

When I was in school the boys used to tease me (I didn't realize they were flirting). My Dad told me to beat their arse. So I did. Then their mothers would call my mother and tell her I was beating up their kid.

Look I think bullying is shite but it's no worse than it was decades ago.

While the comments and tactics aren't that much different, there is one huge difference. When we were kids, you'd get bullied at school the come home. And home was safe. The bully couldn't get to you in your house. So you got a respite and reset period. With social media and the internet, there is no respite except when you're sleeping. The bullying at school carries over to social media. And the bullies can hide behind their phones and computers so how do you fight that? It's a 24 hour barrage on these kids. I once agreed with you until I saw this happen first hand to a 15 year old girl. She attempted to take her own life unsuccessfully, thank goodness. When we finally saw everything that was said and done to her it was mind boggling. I don't know if I could have survived it as a 15 year old and I'm not one to back away from a fight.

Kids don't necessarily fight one on one anymore. "Just fight back and they'll leve you alone" isn't practical advice to someone getting jumped by multiple assailants.

Bullying isn't just some big kid shoving another kid and taking his lunch money. Bullying, in most cases, isn't physical. It involves public shaming and teasing often times using social media and it gets fricking vicious.

In my day (born in 76'), if somebody called me fat or something, it sucked but it was confined to that small class or playground. Now it's literally worldwide if someone wants to be awful and intentionally hateful to someone.

Also, these anti-bullying campaigns are intended to serve multiple purposes.

To tell bullied kids, to speak up and tell someone. So many bullied kids silently live in torture. It's for the 12 year old who would rather commit suicide than suffer the abuse.
It's also for the adults and teachers who may not recognize that it's happening. There is a systematic failure when bullying persists. Parents of bullies and the bullied need to intervene as well as teachers and other adults. You have to recognize there is a problem in order to stop it or at least address it.

The world is hard enough. I don't think it's being pussified to offer support and address abuse. Nobody should have to live in fear of physical violence or verbal abuse.

I was bullied as a kid and I survived but I'll be damned if I'm not going to do anything I can to prevent others from that experience.

If you don't think bullying is a problem, you were probably a bully or possibly still are. Because there's no way, in my mind, that someone who was bullied as a kid or adult would be against an anti-bullying campaign.

Thanks to 0 tolerance rules and the complete loss of common sense and integrity by the administrations of most schools, if you fight a bully you are going to be expelled.

I would be okay with that as the cost of doing business IF it worked. My point above is that life isn't like the movies and you may end up getting your arse kicked or worse.

Not saying you should never fight. Sometimes you don't have a choice. But keep in mind it's not guaranteed to fix your problem.
