I was bullied and did some bullying myself. This one kid got it real bad from us. I ended up selling him weed later on in life. I apologized for a lot of it, but I heard from good sources he has a kill list and is seeking therapy.

I'm fine with standing up to a bully and fighting back. But if the bully is twice my kid's size, I might have to reconsider tactics. No sense getting my kid beat up worse in a situation where physically he is unable to defend himself.

And it's rarely just one bully. Seems they travel in packs these days. And all the social media crap, shite is far more brutal and hurtful than anything I saw growing up.

My older brother was bullied through much of his childhood. My brother is a small guy. Same guy would ride his bike to our house just to kick my brothers arse. One day my brother hide behind the tree at the end of the driveway and waited. As soon as he turned in our driveway, my brother whacked him in the chest with a bat. The bullying stopped that day

Moral of this story, don't be a bully

This big kid in the neighborhood kept messing with me and I called him out and we started walking in circle around pushing one another. Everybody was watching and egging it on Kept trying to get my nerve up to hit him. Finally got he nerve, and popped him in the face He proceeded to beat the hell out of me. I balled up and he was wailing on me. After that he picked me up and threw me into the holly bushes which have thorns and hurt like shite. That hurt worse than anything. The big kids then broke it up and we never fought again and we're friends after that

Moral of the story is that if you fight back be prepared to get thrown in the sticker bushes

Sorry but when kids in my childhood tried to bully me I put up a fight and not look to campaigns to stop it.

Difference is today you would be the bad guy. The school would punish you for your insensitivity.

If I see the commercial on Watch ESPN about teenage depression and the fat bitch singing one more time then I'm going to kill mysef.
that commercial is annoying, because it comes on watchespn over and over but that's pretty pathetic to call a kid "fat bitch"

Social media has made bullying 1000 times worse. It wasn't around when I was a kid. Back then it was scrap, shake hands, move on. Now shite last forever. It's really fricked up.

Who is raising all these little shitheads who torment kids like that on social media?

probably nobody is and that is the core problem but it always seems discussions like this center on other kids being bad, never hear from the parents of the tormentors

Look I think bullying is shite but it's no worse than it was decades ago, it's just more public.

This is the disconnect for many when discussing bullying. It definitely is worse. Thank social media.

People don't understand every facet of the game that social media changed. They think, just because they graduated in the early 00's that things couldn't be that different. It is.

I was really skinny growing up and got bullied. My dad told me to fight any and all , it didn't matter if I won or lost . He also said if I knew I was going to fight don't talk just start swinging. This was a long time ago( I'm 50 now) I was scared the first couple times and got my arse kicked a few but after awhile I got better at fighting. After awhile the bullies knew that they would have to fight me if they come at me... it was kinda funny when I won because they had got their arse kicked by the skinniest guy in school.. now they we're getting picked on

If parents taught their children to put the bully in his/her place then we wouldn't have the issue. But of course all of today's little snowflakes are taught to ignore and walk away.

While I totally agree with this, I think this is due to schools having a zero tolerance policy with fights instead of using common sense about what happened. If a kid has been bullied and finally fights back, he or she is punished as well. Common sense has gone out the window these days.

I got bullied heavily in elementary and a bit of middle school. Most just ridiculed me rather than physically bully me due to being bigger than the rest of them. That said, as a kid who felt like I had no friends at the time, getting ridiculed day in/day out and no one doing anything, even the teachers when I tried to reach out, screwed with me in the head.

Then someone says, whip their arse. Great idea, let me do that so the silly zero tolerance thing can get applied, and I probably get expelled. Additionally, numbers would not have been likely to be on my side in those days. The same assholes tended to ridicule me as a pack.

Bullying is an issue. It's not black and white. I survived thank God, but there are far too many poor souls who are no longer with us because they endured something worse than I did, and they couldn't handle it anymore.

Some of the anti-bullying stuff is important because permanent damage can occur. Some of it is an attempt to prevent kids from fighting. My parents tried unsuccessfully for about twenty years to enact the part about keeping kids from fighting, fortunately my parents problems eventually got places of their own and my parents found the peace they desired

Getting suspended is worth it. I bet that bully and others would know not to mess with the kid that pushed their shite in. I'll deal with the school.
