I agree that the camera should be attached in a way that it can't just slide off.
However, constant filming is a terrible idea for anyone in the public especially when whatever they pick up is public information
Having a camera constantly pointed at people and filming the public is not a perfect idea

You're right. They should definitely be attached in a way that basically guarantees they can't be dislodged in a struggle whether that means sewing them into some sort of pouch or something more securely or what. It should be close to impossible for those suckers to come off.

If the police officer who was on top of Alton Sterling had a camera with a lens similar to a GoPro (wide angle). You can bet for damn sure that we would've seen exactly what was going on with his hands, and the officer by his head as well.

Yep. I think that could prevent rioting in certain cases. Sterling being one of them.

They don't hand it out, Obama allowed them to purchase crap we don't need from 2 wars. Does a local office "need" it...no, but it's probably cheaper than them buying another tahoe.

Its not just buying the cameras, its maintaining and storing the videos as well. Larger departments have entire sections with 6-12 people dedicated to just maintaining in dash camera videos that are recorded on VHS/DVDs, now you are going to throw body cams in. Then theres converting old footage to new digital, which then brings servers into the mix. Its not cheap by any means and not every department can afford it and the fed can't float every single dept in america.
I'm not against cameras, but its not at straight forward as everybody thinks.

I do know that their badges never fall off. Just pin those cameras on their shirt.
Wrong.My badge (star) has come off several times in fights. As well as radio out of its holder, name tag, etc.
But, I am for body cameras. In car cameras save 20 cops for every dumbass it burns. But, who's going to pay for it?

I know I'm oversimplifying it, but I do think that the money is there for most departments. When police want something bad enough, they usually find a way to pay for it. I'm sure the same things were said for dash cams at one point.
You are right about the logistics of maintaining the footage, but there are already a few third party companies that offer this service to departments, and I'm sure many more would sprout up as this new market develops.
ETA: as a citizen, I would even go so far as to support a local tax increase that would be earmarked for this.

In public places Body Camera's are fine, when you come on private property they need to have the property owners permission, or a warrant, just like with any other search.
