Sorry about your phone, but for the love of Pete, don't keep this shite on your phone. Snapchat nudes and do not keep CC and bank info on your phone.

Yeah, sadly you could know exactly where the thief is with the phone tracker and the police won't care at all.

NOPD should have put that hotel on lockdown and did a room by room sweep of each room along with taking every guest and employee down to the station for interrogations

I keep all of my bank info, credit card info, utility accounts info, website logins, just about everything important on the mSecure app. It's too convenient not to.

The guy who stole it is an idiot anyway. With iOS 7 and above if the phone is stolen the thief will have a paperweight because he won't be able to activate the phone even is did a restore on it.

I got my iPhone stolen off a bar in Kenner. The bartender called the police and an officer came out and we tracked the phone to a house in North Kenner. He went out to recover it and I got my phone back the next day. I like to share that story because Kenner cops usually are not on the good side of any story I hear. This one actually went the extra mile.

I hate having to drop an unnecessary $550 on a new phone.

I just got the 5c with my upgrade before I went to London in February.

I lost so many fricking picture that I took.

On top of all this I can't figure out if they were backed up with my iCloud. I'm calling Apple tomorrow to walk me through how the cloud actually works.

My phone backs itself up to my desktop when I walk into my house via wifi. I do not comprehend someone having all this information on their phone and not syncing it with their desktop almost daily....I also basically use the usb on my desktop as a charger so both functions, charging and backup, are performed at once.

The cloud works as long as you had it set up to back itself to the cloud.

Just go to the cloud on your desktop and log in. Your files (that you told it to upload) should be in there.

Classic OT.

Cops suck, they are jack booted thugs, we live in a police state, their power should be limited, etc.

Meanwhile... "My phone got stolen and Apple says it is here. I know that a private companies information may not be legally accurate and all but screw that, go kick in the door and violate the rights of everyone there. Because it's about me this time."

The day they start basing searches and interrogations off of private company internet info is the day we can just burn the Constitution.

I understand you are looking for help here but it might be helpful to others to know how your phone was stolen.

Could they not get a search warrant based on probable cause?

Just saying...even if the tracker knows exactly where the phone is, most of the time police will do nothing. They won't try to get a warrant or anything, just say "there's nothing we can do, tell your phone bye-bye and buy a new one".

We have a cell phone store in the ghetto around where I live that has a big sign that says "we unlock phones". Pisses me off, because I know it's just a front for people to sell stolen phones

this usually means unlocking the phone to where it can be used with any carrier. for instance if it's an at&t phone and you want to use it with verizon they can unlock it. still illegal though i believe

New Orleans has professional phone thiefs working the quarter. They won't snatch from your hands, but if you set it down somewhere for a second it will be gone.
