Some from I-20 as well as getting away from some cities.

This would get coastal traffic from Cali. off of I-10 at Fort Stockton and avoid San Antonio, Houston, Beaumont, Lake Charles and Baton Rouge. How could this NOT be a boon?

Aren’t those cities where the coastal traffic would go? I can’t imagine people going out of their way by hundreds of miles just to make a giant loop away from certain cities.

At the end of the day, I prefer to drive on the US or state highways anyway. Some of the towns have character and it won’t add too much time if you were going to be in heavy interstate traffic anyway.

It’s looks like it will go through a bunch of small towns and seems like a waste of money. How about fixing the interstates we have now?

They’re saying it would create traffic in impoverished areas that see no outsiders, allowing for economic development.

It would actually work to an extent and would absolutely help alleviate strain on I-10 and 12.

I think it’s a great idea that benefits multiple states and dozens of cities in more ways than one.

Louisiana has bigger road issues than this.

And small towns in Texas > Louisiana

And yet the OT will still bitch about left-lane drivers.

my comment was in the regards to your claim that it wouldn't add much time going down the highway

ETA: maybe you'd like to race me from Lafayette to Shreveport on your highways

Yeah, if you think the Audubon Bridge isn't used much- just wait til you get a load of I-14.

It would get used a ton, you people are crazy. The proposed track is not far from major urban areas that would use it frequently.

I think this would be freakin great. I 10 is so crowded as it is and this would allow much of the traffic that goes through BR to cross the state through Alexandria. I know there is some revenue that would be lost in Hotels and Gas along that route but it would lighted the load on a very congested Interstate and that just in Louisiana, the same can be said for Ga

If we're talking Louisiana, you can only mean "Alexandria".

There is rural- and then there is Cenla. None of us or our grandkids would live to see the economic boom the college buddies promise- including themselves.

We're talking people driving across state lines. It would be used a lot by them and would create "exit economies" in these rural towns.

One thing it would help is provide a faster way for a lot the people living there to get to their oilfield jobs in TX (tons of oil workers living up there)....There's no fast or easy way out of there, right now. That's one of the bigger complaints I've heard, anyway. Guess we will see.....

How can we build a new interstate when we cannot afford to maintain and modernize the ones we have?
