Not sure about hiding behind the fabric lawn chair before going in the house was a good move.

Am I the only one who finds this situation unfortunate?
Don't blame the cop in any way but it's sad a mentally ill person was shot with his possibly lifelong caretaker watching.
Just a sad deal all the way around.

It's extremely unfortunate for everyone involved. It's unfortunate that he didn't have family or friends who would get that rifle out of his house, its unfortunate for the guy who had to shoot him, its unfortunate for everyone who had to see it. Nothing good happened here. I can't help but be impressed by that shot though.

Threat neutralized.
Sad stuff, but necessary. Amazing shot for sure.

Shouldn't he have waited until the guy pointed the gun at him and/or shot him at least once?

All of this. Cop had no other option.

Handgun, the tool that gets you to your long gun

Hmmmmm...wonder how many cocks that female captain had to suck in order to make rank? Or how many more talented police got jumped over by her because she's a woman?
Are you really this stupid?

When he was talking to the officer with the shotgun and he finally lost his cool at the annoying lady and screamed "GET. BACK."
I'd buy him a beer just for that.

Other cop ran the other direction, so he was pointing at the other cop.

Nope, but I guarantee you there were more qualified male officers to get that rank than her. They just had the misfortune of having a penis in the PC world we live in nowadays.

Maybe 15 - 20 yards. A head shot at that distance would be a great shot, just hitting a full sized human at 25 yards is not what I would call "great" but everyone has their own view I guess.

That video was hard for me to see on my phone. Is it clear that the mentally ill guy was pointing the gun? Not trolling I really just could not see well.

This wasn't the range we are talking. As others have said, he's probably got some combat training to be that calm. Most people that have never been shot at before, would be shaking, and that would make a 25 yard shot seem like a 50 yard shot.

I kinda went down the youtube shooting bodycam footage rabbit hole and I learned a very important lesson.
If you are ever involved in a shooting, don't talk to the police. I saw several videos where the cop that is involved in the shooting starts to tell someone what happened and another cops jumps in to tell him to shut up and not talk about it. If cops won't even rehash the scenario without legal representation, then neither should you.

25 yards with a sudden adrenaline dump is nothing to scoff at.
