Well Louisiana law states you can't operate a vehicle while intoxicated so they could argue that although you weren't driving you were operating it.

You can get a DUI today just by being in the car drunk, even if you're asleep. You think they're going to give up on that sweet, sweet, corrupt theft racket they have going on?

In the present you can get a DWI for not driving a vehicle.

What makes you think it would be any different if we have a driverless grid? Operators would still be licensed and have to drive in case something goes wrong.

It will be harder for police to establish probable cause when the car drives itself.

You don't need probable cause to stop a car, only reasonable suspicion.

Only if you get the car drunk. And it takes a lot to get a car drunk, they're bigger than people.

If it's fully autonomous I don't see why a DWI would be a thing. Unless we require sobriety in the event of an emergency.
