Today's cars don't need wax. Just wash periodically. Prayers sent if you've got an old POS car that's looking dull.

I've had good luck with Blackfire Wet Diamond on black paint. Of course you have to wash and prep the paint correctly for it to really pay off.

I also use the Klasse product mentioned in this thread to seal headlights/tailights/glass.

Modern cars don't need wax? Oh the horrible advice people on this website give.

My acura is 9 years old and the paint is in better shape then when I bought it thanks to Zaino. It probably has over 25 coats of polish on it. Every time it rains I can't find a car that beads better than it.

I use 4 Star Ultimate Paint Protection applied with a porter cable after a wash and clay bar. Once or twice a year I'll use Poor Boy's World Polish with Sealant with a medium/light cutting pad and then a coat or two of the four star after that.

2 bucket method with grit guard always...and a foam gun w/ Meguiars Gold Class soap if it's really dirty.

ETA: Blackfire posted above is supposed to work wonders on black vehicles, but I'd recommend a porter cable for application.

Another thing: Klasse and Wolfgang are some of the best products, but as mentioned, they require a 12 hour shaded curing process and multiple coats. Since I normally don't have 12 hours to be vehicless and/or a shades area I typically gravitate toward Poor Boy's World's products bc they can be applied in direct sunlight (though not recommended for optimal results) and can normally be topped with another product in 3 to 4 hours or less...sometimes immediately.

Check out this thread, I've had it bookmarked for a long time... A lot of good info in it.

Ignore this.

I use Collinite 845. It's very durable.

Clear coat failure.
Wax protects your paint.

I have our two black vehicles detailed once every year to year and a half just to get scratches and stuff out. No clue what that guy uses but damn they come back looking brand new.
For weekly washes I use Showroom Shine, started getting it from the dealership I worked at, now I just order it online.
